I'm watching Kill la Kill right now. The pink-haired girl is my favorite-- I always like music-themed characters.

Nothing. I don't know if anime just sucks or if it's just me but I can't handle all the cliches anymore. I don't want to see pointless forced moe and awkward cardboard cutout MCs that are special because the plot demands it. Everything just feels like it's made to sell toys for people to jerk off on. I can't make it through an episode of anything.

Genius Party is actually a couple of movies but made of unrelated shorts. Highly recommend. Masaaki Yuuasa (ping pong's director) has a part in it. Outlaw Star is great, similar to Cowboy Bebop in that it's a space frontier setting but less serious and with more of a fantasy/space opera feel.
>>
Grimgar - Finished it last week, really good, even if it has plotholes.
Chaika 2nd season - Watching, it's okish.
Gakusen Toshi Asterisk - I was expecting Tatsuya Onii-sama DeusEX Machina, but after the first 5 minutes I decided to skim the episodes and I couldn't stop cringing.
Phantom World - Dropped.
Erased - Watching 2nd episode, Interesting so far.

>Ping Pong The Animation
Is this realistic or do they make exaggerated moves like PoT.
>>
>>27780769
Ping Pong the animation is the most realistic sports anime ever made probably
>>
>>27780769
Ping Pong is more about the characters than the sport, but it seemed realistic to me, but I don't know anything about ping pong.
>>
>>27780769
>Is this realistic
the actual ping pong matches are pretty stylized, but they do talk about techniques and grips and swings and all that stuff in decent detail

it's really not a show about ping pong though. ping pong is the backdrop. it's a character drama, it's all about motivation and why people pursue an interest. the characters are all very realistic and sympathetic. if you love a good character-driven drama, you need to watch it

>>
>tfw grumpy jii-san is dead

>>
>>27782713
>way too confusing
Don't be retarded, anime movies are usually very easy to follow, maybe Patlabor II and Jin-Roh being the exception (both by Oshii).

Tbh I've stopped watching anime movies for the plot, I prefer to watch them for high quality animation, OVAs are able to be a good balance between the two since studios often produce more than one OVA but not many anime movies outside of the big franchises have direct sequels.
>>
>>27782569

Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Spirited Away
Kiki's Delivery Service
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Perfect Blue
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro

Unless you are watching anime aimed at children, anime does not sell toys.

Why don't you people ever watch shows like Rakugo, Iron Fortress and Joker Game? You go out of your way to only watch or pay attention to the shows you don't want to watch.

Almost. I got super excited when I realized the whole plot was written up to this.

But the scene before when Okabe deletes the tracer on their computer or whatever and he's issuing his victory decree got me going. It's amazing because you can hear the bitter defeat in his voice, and how he's so barely keeping it together. His decree was less crazy Okabe and more like him putting every ounce of himself he had left into something genuine.

And then in the scene right after when the worldline switches to the beta, and we're back to the first episode introduction of Okabe staring at the screen, Mayuri knitting and Daru hacking, and Okabe is so fucking shell shocked and hopeless, almost got me. Especially with the music playing, and you realize he went through so much and it was like none of it had ever happened

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQyinC5zako&index=14&list=PLL77IVn4yixXNjnBZGgFavieuLHyaaw-q

When they make THIS fucking song play over the whole scene

God damn I almost started, I wont lie. I felt for his character

Aside from lots of currently airing shit, I've been working on my backlog. I am/have been watching:

>Gundam (currently ZZ, which is meh)
>Shirbako (rewatch, it's even better this time)
>Air (Been a while since I've watched a key VN adaptation, it definitely has the same feel)
>Nichijou (kind of meh desu, but it spent four years on my backlog)
>Yowamushi Pedal (to motivate me to ride my bike more often)

I think I need more overdramatic unrealistic teenage romance to be honest, I watched ef: a tale of memories and True Tears a few months ago and they are very enjoyable.

And I have to be honest, it has the best fight choreography of any animated show I've ever seen. The martial arts, traveling and eastern aesthetics reminds me of Journey to the West, which I'm already a huge fan of.

Psycho-pass is some good shit, I prefer season 1 over season 2 tho. I'm also watching those things this season mayoiga seems promising and I like the concept of kiznaiver
>>
I recently started watching Strike Witches (about halfway through S2). It's pretty cool, and you know you're watching anime when a woman leaps out of a plane in her swimsuit and destroys an alien craft by slicing through it with her katana.

That's the impression I got from it anyway.
>>

That's funny since the people who complain about anime here are probably failed normies.

not as good as season 1 but still good.

Fug
I'm in tears again
When I watched this show, this was the last time I felt emotions.
All that love, excitement, bonding, loss, despair, all of that Okabe does to keep his friends happy and alive.
Fuck, man.
This is why I don't do anime too often, I don't like feeling my feelings

I spent the first few months of freshman high school year just watching this show.
It was the first animation I actually dedicated to watching.
This was back when sidereel gave out megavid links, and megavid/upload was still around.
Damn, that was a comfy time...
>>
>>27787623
Damn those are great suggestions but I've seen them both. I actually have a Satsuki figure sitting next to me on my desk.
>>
Sakamichi no Apollon gave me hope for anime.
Some random anon recommended it, thank you
>>
Kimagure Orange Road.

The first ending is now one of my favorite songs.

>tfw you didn't experience teenage love

KOR and MI are the only two animus I can never bring my self to re-watch.
feel overload.
>>

I'm still newbie to anime, now I'm watching cowboy bebop and evangelion rebuilds

I tried to watch gundam 0079 a while ago, but the old animation is fucking awful, literally 2 FPS animation, I only watched until the 4th episode

Frau Bow the best girl though
>>
what are some good pre-2000s romance anime to watch? nothing too long or filled with drama or repeating misunderstandings like rumiko stuff
>>
>>27789426
Gundam is not a good starter anime.
Gundam is in a whole mecha realm that's a subculture of anime.
Start with
>Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood
>Hunter x Hunter
>Kill la Kill
>Gurren Lagan
>Cowboy Bebop
>Samurai Champloo
>Fairy Tail

If you're white and like action, check out Shingeki no Kyojin, but that's like the most normie anime since DBZ desu. I know blonde models that buy SnK figurines and backpacks, disgusting desu.

are you watching the blu ray rips? 79 is old but it isn't that hard to get through. if you don't want to start with uc stuff there's other gundam series like G you can watch

To Heart. It's a really well-made, truly underrated show that should get more recognition.

His and Her Circumstances is another one. Directed by Hideaki Anno of all people, although he left towards the end because of creative issues.
>>
>>27789324
I like comfy shit but only if it's 6-12 episodes long.

I fear that I might get bored of Mushishi considering its slow pace and episode length.
>>
>>27780068
I've never watched anime unless you count dbz/Pokemon.

Slice of life is for people that have an actual refined taste.

I finally watched S3E14 of Working!! yesterday. What a magnificent finale. It makes me sad to know it will NEVER be coming back, but it ended as well as it would ever be possible to end something like that.

I recommend Working!! to absolutely everyone, especially anyone who feels fatigued with anime in general. It might save your life. S1 can be a bit of a drag with Inami, but everything else is great and even she gets better. That's one of the things I loved about Working!! actually, the characters actually change and progress, it's not just static. All the character ineractions are absolutely magical, too.
