I think the price thing though, has to do with the fact that both our populations are insignificant on a global scale and logistically difficult to get to compared to other parts of the world. In Australia you might drive several hours to get the the next town. In Europe it was like... 10 minutes? So as a result we get less shit at twice the cost.
Anyone got any figures to back this up? Aus especially seems ridiculous. Today i spent $75 to sent a few A4 sized documents overseas with business tracking. If i did this from Hong Kong, maybe about $14 AUD. Also the public transport here. It easily costs me $16-$22 in peak hour to get to work and back. I come from buttfucknowhere in Europe originally. I could catch the bus to the next region for that much.
