You don't seem to understand that even if the world is like this because of apathy, it's not my personal apathy that matters. I am personally insignificant just like any other individual and it doesn't matter what any single one of us does.
I like markets I just think they should be extremely controlled and guided by the state to benefit the people. I think there should be a maximum income of around 2 million and all companies are taxed heavily so they have razor thin profits but will still be competing with one another. I also think there should be a basic income. So I guess I'm pretty lefty but not quite a socialist though I am kind of a commieboo. Feel free to convince me.

I was thinking more along the lines of net worth and just throwing out numbers. I don't think individuals need anymore that around that amount desu. What I'm most concerned about is individuals/private sector using their cash to influence policy. That should be totally banned and considered treason though I know in reality that's basically a pipe dream.

I don't think you know what socialism is. It's not about taxes but the means of production being owned by the workers, not the capitalists.
An example: Everyone working at McDonalds would own a part of it, the direction of the company would be democratically decided by the workers, and each worker would be entitled to their part of the profits.

If you take a look at Germany post-reunification there really is a difference between the capitalist (but with a functioning welfare system) west and the formerly socialist east.
The most socialism we need is something like Scandinavia IMO.

No, they never fully transitioned from stat capitalism to socialism.
State capitalism is where the state owns the means of productions, not the workers. State capitalism might be considered socialism if it's a pure direct democracy, the soviet union wasn't.
