I tried to read the Quran but it felt like the whole first few sections were dedicated to shit-talking non-Muslims and I was kind of put off. I also found the writing style very difficult to absorb, although it might've just been a bad translation.
I've read a little about Sufism though and those guys seem pretty cool to me. Do you know much about them? From what little I know, they really emphasize that their mystic experiences are ineffable, so I'm not sure if they produced much literature, but I really wanna read more about them and their methodology.
Spiritually, I'm a bit of a syncretist, taking bits and bobs from everything I read about. It just makes more sense to me that the one "true" religion (although I believe there is truth in just about every religion) would be revealed to every human on Earth and ingrained within their very consciousness. I'm looking for similarities between the world's religious texts, but I'm also searching through philosophy, psychology, and even physics to try and make some sense of why this is all here. I never used to be much of a believer, but these past few years I've had a few very intense religious experiences that have changed my mind.
