You need to make a conscious, concerted effort to change
your actions and disposition.

Lets say for example, you are scared to go to the mall.
You want to go to the mall to buy a shirt, but are afraid
people will judge you as you walk around.
If you decide to go to the mall, you may be silently judged.
If you are silently judged, literally nothing is different from
if you went to the mall and were ignored, because judgement
does nothing to you. If you pussy out, you will not get the
shirt and it will compound your confidence issue.
Now try to apply this to a real situation in your life.
