I don't feel this way. I guess when it all changed was when I met this blond really cute boy at a judo class some years back. I'm really straight and none of my friends even know or would even guess, but we kinda fell in love and had a whole complicated "neither of us are gay but can't deny we're falling head over heels for each other for no appearant reason". And we didn't even want to admit it to each other, so a lot of things were said without being said. I was chubby for my height and I refused to cut my hair. I still keep my hair longish by /r9k/ standards (not past the neck) but it's a lot cleaner now. I only had one close friend but he moved. Affected my ability to socialize.
