Red flags for women?
"I'm not like the other girls." is implied.

>"I love coffee."
>owns a crosley turntable
>car interior is trashed
>lives on fast food
>>
> hyphenated last name
> dyed hair
> facial piercings
>>
>>27702793
Are we referring to the "i'm not like other girls" meme subcategory. Because a large majority of both males and females are unique to each other, not in a special way, but they have differentiating traits.
>>
>>27703035
>hyphenated last name
This is probably the greatest red flag of the modern age.

It guarantees that the person comes from a broken home.

No, it's just an implied red flag. Someone says it every time.

You're trying too hard.
>>

Is it a crosley specifically? That's the redflag, not owning a turntable in general.
>>
>>27702793
What the hell is wrong with coffee?
>>
>>27703094
Not if it's a hyphenation she has with her husband.
>>

It shows you're boring as fuck.

Just don't make it what defines you.

Your taste in something should not be what makes you unique.

Ideally my gf would be a girl who comes over, let's me fuck her and goes away
>>
>>27703630
Still is, anon.

She would take his name. If she doesn't, that's a red flag. They'd be married so it doesn't really matter as you aren't scum that goes after married women but you get what I mean.
>>
>>27703700
I didn't think red flags were only about relationships. Just association in general.
>>
>>27703700
This.

She doesn't value the marriage if she doesn't take his name. I probably would break off a marriage if she refused. It makes me think she doesn't plan on staying.

I get it. Although to be fair, I fucking love coffee and it kinda defines me. It's used to uplift my depressive traits, so I legit drink it all the time, which in turns makes me a jolly, nervous wreck of a guy.

But I digress I guess.

>>
>>27703692
What is meant to make someone unique? It's hard to objectively state traits you have in public profiles like that besides your hobbies, accomplishments and interests.
>>
>>27703771
Liking coffee isn't a hobbie, accomplishment or interest.

If you collect different coffees or maybe make your own espresso and do the cool foam art than sure.

Just saying "I love coffee! <3 XD" shows there isn't anything you actually do.
>>
>>27703761
I wish. I just want normal society back again.
>>
>>27703795
I say I like tea, and I do a lot of related things with tea. It's an interest imo, bordering on hobby if you do something like make your own. Obviously if someone is only having Starbucks and instant, it's not the same thing.
>>
"I'm bisexual"
>>
>>27703820
Yeah, but most if not all neets wouldn't survive a day in "normal" society.

It's about being a man. Back then it meant working hard while having a submissive wife at home. Now it's about working hard on both your life, job and social skills to get a woman.

Regardless, it has always been about adapting.

My sister's car is so disgusting there's mold on the rugs. Several years ago I even took a photo of her car and joked about posting it on Facebook. Both her and my mother tried jumping me to get my phone (they're tiny so I school's them away). Then she starts screaming about how the car is so disgusting the state will take her kid if they see it.

Well bitch if that's true, then maybe you should clean your fucking car

OP here.

That's disgusting.

Part of the reason it's a red flag for me is because I detail cars on the side and clean my interior every week. Unless you actually live inside your car I see no reason for it not to be spotless.

Your story is cringeworthy regardless though. I feel sorry for you.
>>
>>27704197
Crosley's are shit and dirt cheap.

They focus on the appearance of the product to sell to young women. When I see a girl with a $30 crosley all I see is "Please think I'm cool, look I have a shitty turntable." It shows they put no effort into actually enjoying the hobby that is vinyl and just bought something because it's "so cute X)"

it was cringe worthy for me at the time too. But mainly because it confirmed my mother's favoritism towards my sister. She can't even deny it anymore after the things she said to me that day.

It's usually sci-fi. I've gotten that from a lot of acquaintances. Doesn't matter that I'm a burgeoning expert in my own field. Not reading some certain sci-fi authors apparently invalidates my interest in books.

>It's usually sci-fi. I've gotten that from a lot of acquaintances.

Are we talking entry level or deep down the rabbit hole of science fiction?

Well, you may be interested in books but your personal taste is very niche. It's a bit like enjoying Avant garde film. Film critics look at you funny and most people can't relate.

Science Fiction is the most palatable form of fiction because you're always guaranteed at least two things:
1. Some interesting aspect of a reality altered by technology, chemistry, or some other scientifically inclined element
and
2. a philosophical revelation, or a deeper meaning, to accompany it.

Everything else can get dull. Especially classic literature (which I've read plenty of).

Entry level authors, mostly. Almost invariably it's just Heinlein and Gibson that I've been confronted on.

I've read some sci-fi--Wolfe, Dick, Lem--but I don't go out of my way to if it wasn't something that sounded interesting to me otherwise. It's not what I care for, so I don't go through the supposedly important authors in it. My personal taste isn't very niche, though I do have a specialization. That doesn't mean I don't read outside of it. But, again, it doesn't mean I read all the "necessary" and "popular" works from everything else either.

I don't see how classics could ever become dull, but to each their own; it doesn't mean you don't enjoy books if you don't enjoy classics.

I've read Asimov, Clarke, Lem, Dick, Scott Card, Heinlein and Gibson. Only managed halway through Dan Simmon's book.

Working on Bester's The Stars My Destination at the moment.

I legitimately enjoy science fiction as much as you probably enjoy whichever one you specialize in

>I don't see how classics could ever become dull, but to each their own
Some classics don't but most do. Anne Frank, Bradbury tales, Great Gatsby, a lot of entry tier classics are dull as rocks.

Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath was decent, though.

I agree with you on
>it doesn't mean you don't enjoy books if you don't enjoy classics.

Heinlein is entry tier but Gibson has a wide range of linguistic skills that I think would place him above other Sci-fi writers like Orson Scott Card and even Stanislaw Lem (who writes in first person too much and it's god awful).

Neuromancer is okay, but Philip K Dick is right up your alley if you like surreal things.

Ubik
Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch
Galactic Pot-healer (short easy read)

I'd suggest these three. I like Gibson, and I do think his choice of words are on point, but Dick books are hard to read. Plus if anyone asks what you're doing you can fuck with them

Thank you, my man.

Also, half of the ideas from the Matrix are ripped from Dick novels. Same think with Gibson (who borrowed heavily from Ubik to influence a technological virtual reality).

I've been reading since very young; I used to make it a goal to read every book in each school library I went to (I was switched around several times), and managed it till middle school. It was mostly reading for escapism, until I read Kokoro. It pushed me out of solipsism, and I've been mostly reading for empathy and belonging since.

Besides family, almost everyone I know reads (that's how I come across judgmental types, like what I originally brought up). But almost everyone reads different things. I know a girl who exclusively reads YA, but reads upwards of 700 books a year. I wouldn't dismiss her interest in books, even if it's not anything I care about. She likely wouldn't get any reference I made to national literatures I care about, but hell if I could probably name a single title she's read in the last year. Books are too enormous an interest to expect much crossover.

>Books are too enormous an interest to expect much crossover.

It's like film, but instead of cinematic visual you're greeted with language and left up to interpreting it using the personal workings of your mind.

A lot of people hate me for this but I don't really enjoy Blade Runner because there are too many inconsistencies between that film and Do Androids Dream of Electric SheepPhilip K Dick died before he could watch the actual film, and only saw the dysotopic looking set during a trailer viewing

I'm about 60% sure he would've disliked it, too, since it drops a lot of main plot points and misses the message. If books-to-film were colors, they essentially took blue and tried to make it turquoise.

What do you think the message of DADoES is and what do you think the message of Blade Runner is?

>What do you think the message of DADoES is and what do you think the message of Blade Runner is?

Blade Runner tries to showcase Androids as having humanistic features and emotions through characters like Rutger and the falsely designed Pris.

DADoES is about the grey needle-thin line that defines the callousness and worthlessness of machines with the empathetic humanism that encompasses humanity (as showcased by Rachel Rosen's heartlessness after sex, and the androids laughing and mocking the spider while they plucked apart it's limbs).

Electric animals played a large role in the book because they showcased how -real- animals had much more value as organic creatures than droid-like machines.

Crosley turntables are shit but girls think they look cute and buy them so that they have that cool hipster aesthetic of owning vinyls. Hence, owning a crosley turntable shows people that they're retarded and only care about the image. Sort of music equipment equivalent of a girl who pretends to play video games

yeah he's being autistic but he's right
it's not a big deal for women because who is actually not going to fuck her because of the type of turntable she has, but that's just a given
but crosley's have terrible tracking which causes them to place a very heavy weight on the LP itself, damaging it eventually. i wouldn't give a fuck if a girl put on her arctic monkeys LP but i wouldn't dare bring over any of mine.
