I have a friend who was deployed there as well. He said it wasnt that bad. Pretty safe. 9 months will pass by like nothing. Just imagine that this is something you can tell your grandchildren when you get old. You'll be fine, anon.

But what is there to miss from home? I mean, I've been gone from home intermitently for about 4 years by now, and very rarely do I get even the slightest feeling of missing it.

I think that's one of the worst parts, is that I was the only one from another unit brought over to go overseas with them, so I don't really know anyone, and no one has any reason to make acquaintance with anyone they haven't already
