The people are chill, but there is a lot of the "bro" culture. If I could give advise to anyone thinking to join, go for the 1 that seems the most relaxed to you. Not the 1 that has all the "prestigious" awards and definitely not the 1 that seems to be filled with awkward faggots.
And yes, you have a much better chance of meeting girls than your average college student. Granted, most of them will be stereotypical sorority sloots
That being said, make sure you can dish out a few hundred dollars every month. It's true that you pay for friends and when you leave, none of them give a shit. I had 1 guy talk to me like 2 weeks after I left, but no one else, not even the guys trying to get me to join, ever said a word. Just uncomfortable glances at each other.
All in all, if you don't mind having to pay a few hundred dollars every month and having to go to little club meetings every Sunday, frats can be a good thing. You essentially cheat your way into a good job based on their connections. Just keep in mind that relationships will never be in depth or long term when you leave (for both men and women)

They have communal showers. Like, one big room with shower heads where everybody gets naked and showers together in this one big room.

This guy says no one talked to him after he left, but thats because people who have been initiated and know the rituals shouldn't leave anyway. We have meetings every monday, dues are kinda expensive, and living in the house is fucking awful.
Other than that, its the probably one of the most fun things I've ever done. Just got back from a 3 day formal, and through a friend brought a 9/10 babe that I'd probably never get with otherwise, and fucked her brains out in a hot tub.

I'm in a fraternity at a Big 10 school. While we're not a top house by any means, I've met some of my best friends and we know how to have a good time. I say go for it, defenently the best decision I've made so far in college.

i definitely think it was one of the best things i've done so far in college, already have so many ridiculous stories and have made great friends
if you do join one make sure you join the one that you feel most comfortable in, regardless or rank/prestige. it makes or breaks the experience
