It's not fucking fair, man.

My art teacher didn't learn to draw until he was 25.

It's only too late if you're a 90 year old man on your death bed.

Will I ever be good though?
keep in mind i've never learned music, music theory, or an instrument. and i don't come from a musical background in the least. I just listen to a lot of it every day.

it's not like being a fucking jedi, you can learn an instrument at literally any age, especially an easy one like guitar
>>
Didn't do wrestling, gymnastics, or martial arts as a child. Played tennis through high school but I never took lessons so I suck at it. The only athletic hobbies I can have is run, bike or lift weights. It's too late. It sucks.
>>

How old are you? (Not that it matters)

Honestly, I've been a musician my whole life until recently. I've also decided to pick up drawing and make it my career. Drawing is EXPONENTIALLY harder than learning an instrument. If I can do it, you can do it. Anything you wanna play?

I just want to draw something and have it look like how I imagine it, why am iI so retarded?

You can still do martial arts, and even be great at them.
It is just unlikely that you will ever reach professional/champion level if you had a late start.

i'm not exactly sure. i'd like to either play the drums (like Britt Walford) or piano/vocals (like efrim menuck). I wouldn't mind learning but I have no access to any instrument or teacher like I would in school.
Just reset my life, f.am.

you're progressing nicely. I wish I'd taken an art class but I doubt my junior college even had one.

Have you ever played the game rock band? You may laugh, but it'll actually help you develop a basic sense of rhythm. There are always drum teachers available. Maybe you could try looking into the closest music shop. It doesn't have to be a weekly thing, rather something you can do whenever you have the money. You've got 5 years more time than me on a goal that's far more attainable.

I know but I may as well be 60 with one arm since I have nowhere to start.
>>27664428
Yeah I've played it. My biggest issue is that I no longer have the liberty to completely dedicate my time to something. gotta make money and shit, go to college and everything. Feels like I missed the boat to turn something I like into a career and now I'm stuck.

>going to college for something you don't want to make a career out of
Why? Please don't fall for the college meme. The reason you go to school is to either get a piece of paper or to learn skills. Do you really want a job that wants you just because of a piece of paper?

Again, I know you and I are different people, but I didn't start drawing until last year and didn't get a teacher until last month. I dropped out of college and said, "I want to be a manga artist," and even though it's stressful and risky, and even though I have a long way to go, I'm far more fulfilled than I've ever been before.

Naw senpai. I think if you have a sense of timing and can hear pitches then you can pick anything up.

If you don't though it's like trying to ride a bicycle with no feet.
>>
>>27664636
Man, that's great. I truly wish you luck.
>please don't fall for the college meme
I know, but it's shitty when your dad will pretty much kill himself if I don't go. Every time I try to convince him that there are other choices he starts going on about how he saved up his whole life just so I could go, guilt tripping the fuck out of me. It sucks ass.
How do you feel about music school?
All of my favorite artists didn't go but then again they started when they were like 11 and had a group of friends who played. I have no clue what I'm going to do, kek jdimsa
>>
>>27664636
Community college is cheap and you can take courses in the shit you want for your own reasons.
Including music/art stuff.

Faster then trying to lean on your own, and cheaper then private lessons.
Plus you get to use equipment without having to buy everything before you even know if it is what you want.

I actually highly recommend CC for liberal arts related goals.

>music school
See >>27664780

If you decide to do music school, remember that you're doing it to gain skills rather than get the piece of paper. Your education in this case is more important than actually graduating. I started out college as a percussion performance major, and my skills skyrocketed, but only because they would teach me skills and I would go apply them outside of class.

>>27664884
Thanks. That's good advice. I think I'll take a few classes this summer at the local CC.
