It can when you get into the higher speeds. If you can react fast enough to seeing the letters turn red on these tests when you have an error you go back and fix it faster. It can make a few wpm difference when you're going over 100 wpm. On my old CRTs I always average 105 wpm.

My typing method is completely unorthodox. Im sure i could get faster if i used proper home row, but right now my hand defaults to wasd.
I dont use my right hands pinky at all. I use the right index finger to press enter.
This typing test is kind of shit because its just random 4 letter words mostly. No punctuation, numbers or much capitalization. It's too easy and doesnt accurately represent true typing ability.
