Do any of you feel a general lack of social intelligence due to your own isolation from others?
>>
>>27641450
Only when I think about it.
>>
>>27641450
My isolation has left me in a condition where I deeply understand normies and all of their thought processes. Many things become clear when you're not distracted by the action of the game and can observe intently from the sidelines. Sure, you won't ever be a pro athlete, but a brilliant sports analyst, perhaps.
>>
yes, it feels like I'm on autopilot usually, like there's a zeitgeist everyone else but me is a part of
>>
yeah but also leaves me with interesting perspective. Sometimes it comes out and I can make a joke about a perspective most people have never realized.

My social intelligence is without peer.

this guy knows i think.

once you reach a certain level it's like playing chess, you're watching things happen three moves before they actually happen because you know how to read the patterns.

I'm not isolated though, I work in a busy restaurant and deal with 100s of people I've never met every day.

Any close friends?

Not isolated either, I attend my classes twice a week, talk with people with no problem, make them laugh, etc. I used to have a fairly active social life but events transpired that led me to becoming more solitary. I spent a lot of time reading, watching documentaries, listening to lectures online. I know more than people who've already graduated in some aspects. People think I'm smart and whatnot but it's true, I don't know how to form close personal relationships anymore. I can talk with any dude on the street no problem but as for forming friendships I'm far too conservative with people's boundaries to attempt to engage in anything more than a friendly conversation, and in most cases I have no desire to take it farther than that precisely because I can read people so easily and I don't usually like what I find.
>>
I don't feel it but I feel the ramifications of it, and they're pretty damning. Socializing is like a game I'm not very good at to me.

Senpai you didn't have to admit to samefagging

This place is worse than I thought.
>>
it's more due to social anxiety. I've had a pretty decent social life the past few years, but I've always been drunk or on drugs. I cannot socialize when I'm sober.
>>
>>27641450
I think my social intelligence is alright. I generally pick up on signs and cues and all that, I just find it really boring.

I only enjoy talking to people I can bullshit back and forth with all day - just random train of thought bullshit back and forth.

Small talk drives me bonkers tbqh lads. I get bored and start fucking with the person.

Same, and I'm worried that could easily destroy me if I don't take care of it soon.

one close friend i hang out with a couple times/week and then I also live with 2 housemates

more in other states who I was close with before I moved away
>>
>>27642054
This, sometimes I get lucky and it moves beyond why I'm existing in their vicinity or it becomes unbearable for both of us
>>
>>27641528
This. I'm garbage at interacting, but I can predict how other people will interact easily. I guess I've optimized myself for watching rather than doing.

It kind of sucks because once you know how people will act, you lose all hope that you'll ever enjoy their company.
>>
yeah
but i always sucked at socialisation because of what terrible/inept role models my mother and later grandparents were when raising me
have also developed pretty bad short-term memory and focus just out of the blue from isolation too

not like you can't relearn social skills though
start with some people on your level (who you would deem losers and be embarrassed to associate with probably) and work up
my shitty town's mental health services are fucking terrible otherwise i'd be attending group therapy sessions as practice (except we don't have any)
