Right-wingers completely misinterpet what is meant, or at least what should be meant when the wage gap is brought up.

It's not that women get paid less for the same job, although they do a small percentage. The point is that the jobs that women tend to do are seen as less valuable in themselves. The discussion opened up by this should be concerned with whether that's just or not, and what can be done if it isn't.

It's at least real for weird online wage earners. I can see exactly what all my coworkers make and the men do make more. I haven't seen their writing samples though so maybe they're just really really really good. But entrepreneur dot com and other clickbait sites suggest that both sexes are equally bad. No skin off my back though. I'm okay. Thankfully I suck at everything and can feel lucky with success at any endeavor.

She tries WAY too fucking hard to be the "cool girl" that every guy wants, definitely a massive slag. She constantly shits on women and the things they do, all because she thinks it is what the lads want to see. In reality, we just want the feminists to stfu about how they have it tougher than us, that's it. Betraying your own gender for male attention is so fucking scummy I hope she is raped and killed.
>>
>>27625611
It does any way you look at it. It's a political matter by definition and people are on either the right or the left of it.
>>27625620
The point I'm trying to make is this: How is it decided that one job is more valuable than another job?
Posting that picture makes it seem to follow that you're a socialist, because your idea of an important job is the labour that keeps things running in a material sense. But society's attitude towards these jobs is part of the same problem brought up by the discussion of the gendered wage gap.

the 'gender wage gap' is based on incomplete data, and can be easily adjusted for if you take more variables into considerations, this has been already pointed out even in the mainstream media, but nobody cares as 'women get pay less because of oppression' is more handy for many agendas.

#1 Upwork and other freelancer sites to get some writing-for-web experience and portfolio fodder

Once you have a portfolio, you're more than qualified to solicit sites like entrepreneur, forbes, kotaku, or whatever your experience aligns with. If you ever come across a professional clickbait article and the author's bio says "freelance writer" you're probably qualified if you can match the style.

*yawn*
Reminds me of a discussion I had recently with a guy with 2 sons
My oldest has plans and started community college at 16, started working at a diesel mechanic at 18, and now is almost done with his engineering degree paid for by the railroad he works for when he is only 19 *while* he makes $35k a year.
Guy I know insisted his son not work and only focus on school to get the 'best possible' grades to get into the 'best possible' college to get the 'best possible' job.
His son started college at 19 and got his BA in English Literature in only 6 years! Now his son is 27 and has never earned a paycheck; he is still looking for a job.
.
That father had the fucking gall to tell me this [paraphrase]
"My son did all the right things! He got a 3.6 GPA in high school, a 3.5 GPA is university from a top state school and he can't find work. Meanwhile your son was homeschooled, went to a community college, and already makes more money than my wife! It isn't fair!"
I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!
"Women choose to be in low-paying service professions - it isn't fair that hazardous professions pay more!"
"Women choose to work fewer hours than men - it isn't fair that men make more money!"
etc.
The wage gap HAS NEVER BEEN about fairness - it is about a desire to have equal outcomes regardless of your choices.
Women who talk about the wage gap want the same amount of money as men BECAUSE THEY WANT IT and think that want = a right.
Ludicrous.

>Huh? How is that relevant? Are you about to argue now that men/'the patriarchy' decide being an Oil rigger is more difficult than being a child care worker?
It's a matter of pay, not difficulty. I'm going to argue that it's somehow decided that some jobs pay more than others. I'd like to know the reasons for this and whether it's good or not.
>>
>>27625807
this anon speaks the truth. if you defend this girl then you are literally pathetic beta trash.
>>
>>27625820
I never said that the government should regulate anything.
>>
>>27625816
You're not getting the point. I haven't said anything about equality. I want to know why certain jobs are valued more than others, that's all.
>>
>>27625850
>>27625807
We're not talking about whether we'd have sex with her or she'd have sex with us. Is that the same basis you use to decide if a man is based? No, fucking stay on topic. She's personality wise based for being redpilled, irrelevant of her sexual preferences.
>>
>>27625866
certain jobs are valued (in money) more than others because they make a greater impact on the economy, and/or because there are less people willing or qualified to do them.
>>
>>27625838
Jobs usually pay more for the exact reasons I said and others
- High levels of education required
- Higher demand for the position
- Greater risk
- (in some cases) the position being less desirable
- Greater difficulty and workload
I think these are all pretty good reasons for a job to pay more universally
>>
Eh, take her to /pol/. They'll love her. I think she's just another brainwashed cunt trying to make money on Youtube. I want a free thinker. A girl that doesn't care about what either side thinks. Just believes what is right.

This girl has a point though, but she ignores the question: Why don't women have more leadership roles at companies?

The answer is that males (mostly white males) hold most of the wealth and most of the power and it's difficult for women to move to the next strata.

There's also culture. Men for thousands and thousands of years have been the leaders. While there have been some matriarchal societies, for the most part men have led to way.

If you are against the wage gap, you believe, in modern times, women are just as qualified as men to lead.

Others (like myself) think the wage gap is a problem, but will work itself out in time as older males die and women slowly take their places to even things out.

Some don't care about it and are fine with the status quo.
>>
>>27625913
But is economic growth good in-and-of itself?
>>27625914
Who decides that? What basis does their decision have?
>>
>>27625915
I actually agree with you, I think the wage gap is mostly just a remnant of the actual patriarchy that has been successfully dismantled for 40 years or so now, and will disappear in the next few decades naturally. I'm scared they'll make regulations horribly to the detriment of men to try and rectify it though in the mean time
>>
>>27625932
Everyone decides that, you decide that, I decide that, it's no individuals or groups, everyone. Capitalism is blind. What do you want most, someone to look after your dog while on holidays or you to have power available to have hot showers, lighting, charge your devices, watch tv and cool your fridge? The answer relates to the person who will get paid more by you, whether directly or indirectly. Now if all 7 billion people on earth answered, we'd have a pretty good consensus it's mostly the jobs that tick the above criteria
>>
>>27625866
There are main factors why some jobs make more.
The first two are
1) level of skill required
2) level of certification required
For example, a receptionist (male or female) may be very busy answering the phone all day taking messages, forwarding calls, and being polite are effectively zero-skill activities. A Hazardous Materials Response guy might only do his actual job 1 hour a month but he requires a tremendous level of skill and multiple expensive certifications

The next major factors are
A) Commonality of skills
B) Commonality of workers
For example, commercial driver's licenses are uncommon so they get paid well compared to the level of skill. Many CDL drivers prefer easy jobs like chauffer so long-range big-rig drivers earn more

Next are the 2 D's
Dirt - jobs that require you to get dirty and sweaty pay more
Distance - jobs tha require a lot of travel pay more
Danger - jobs that involve physical danger pay more
Travelling salesmen make more money than salesmen without required travel; IT men that work in oil fields make more than the same guys in an office; supply consultants in a war zone make more than the same in Cleveland.
.
That is the basics. Add in that many positions pay by the hour and the number of hours worked/overtime make a real impact on total earnings.
Didn't you go to school?
>>
>>27625932
the basis of their decision is supply vs. demand.
jobs that are more difficult and/or require more qualifications and dedication must have higher financial incentive otherwise nobody would be willing to do them, get the required qualifications, etc., over the easier jobs that pay the same.
if there's a huge supply of job candidates the employer can afford to lower the pay and pick those willing to work for the lowest pay, beyond a state enforced minimum for a particular kind of work.
>>
>>27625915
>Why don't women have more leadership roles at companies?
They don't want them
>While there have been some matriarchal societies
There has never been a matriarchal society - you have zero credibility, now
>>
>>27625879

>>
>>27625764
>Who studies this and legislates for it?
Capitalism, moron.

If you can get away with paying people less, employers will always do it. You can't get people to do risky jobs without paying them a lot. Women, for the most part, are not partial to risky behavior or risk-taking in general. This is why women are by and large boring.
>>
>>27625838
are you 5 years old? Education needed, working hours, location, risk(s) involved, how much money the position brings in for the employer etc.
>>
>>27625915
Just because some cunt decided diversity is sweet and thought there should be complete balance in male/female leaders doesnt mean an actual equal amount of qualified females exist/are applying for these positions
