In addition to the 250 killings there were also a couple of other incidents that caused Harold Shipman to be reported to the general medical council
The first was when he forged prescriptions for pethidine, which lead to him receiving a 600 pound fine, but didn't cause him to be struck off
A second incident involved a man who came to him wishing to undergo sex reassignment therapy. Instead of prescribing the man with female hormones, Harold Shipman gave him large doses of testosterone instead. When brought before the GMC, Shipman claimed the man had never mentioned to him a desire to transition, and prescribed him the testosterone as his blood work showed an abnormally low amount in his bloodstream. Harold Shipman found innocent of this charge of medical malpractice.
