Been there, in my experience the alcohol puts alot of strain on the muscles around your chest area.
I first thought I had finally caught some disease from smoking but cutting back on drinking made my chest better.

Thank fucking god. I also smoke heavily. I often forget that smoking can affect the heart too. Either way, good to know that quitting can perhaps lead to improvement rather than nothing but a slower death.
