I argue that YouTube, not social media, truly destroyed the Internet and turned computers into "just another idiot box."

Discuss.

Jewtube is 99% trash

Some good channels exist
>>
>>27624224
Why dont YOU discuss it? Whats your reasoning friend?
>>

A combination of YouTube, Google, Smartphones and Social Media destroyed the web as we knew it.

This, the death of Net Neutrality, and the rise of capitalism that used the internet as a tool to propagates ads and create even more marketing to sell products.

Without Youtube I wouldn't have two successful videos that still get comments, the occasional person watching me play games, and people talking about fucking my ass and cumming inside me.
>>
Absolutely agree, 9 year olds are watching Swedish men play games about criminals, hire a hooker then killing them.

This guy gets it.

No single thing caused it, but a combination of several related things that wound up with everyone and their literal grandma ruining the internet without even trying.
>>
Im just glad i was born to experience the fucking golden age of the internet before it became a household thing
>>
>>27624505
One's just a fucking level from Undertale and the other one is about a sonic fart porn archive, it's stupid shit but it feels good to get positive comments.

I still think OP is right. Video is the most accessible and idiot-friendly form of media.

U.S. culture has been going downhill since the proliferation of the TV.
>>
>>27624583
Anything that is entertainment related tend to slip into a culture. It was bound to happen eventually.

This is the reason why you see something as stupid as damn daniel getting the front page and being spread on every corner of the web.

I would say video (and especially memey bullshit video) had a huge hand in driving the steak into the Internet's heart but there's other factors as well.

The Internet used to be much more literate which I think is what appealled to a lot of robots in the first place, at least the somewhat older ones. There were so many old sites like Exit Mundi or the Rotten Library that I could've read all day and been perfectly happy.

I think most of youtube is shit, especially prank vids who have become popular for some reason. But how does it effect other websites?
>>
>>27624915
it mostly affect how internet communities tend to be by flooding the web with idiots that lack common sense before making dumb post about some stupid trend that tend to circulate at first by being ironic but then eventually get flooded by full of idiots who cannot understand the point of the jokes and propagate a new era of cancerous behaviors by overusing content that eventually tend to ruin the enjoyment of something once that was not terrible.

See 4chan.

Remember that thread we had about weird as fuck youtube videos that probably got loads of views from kids?
>>
>>27624224
Facebook and Instagram have been way more impacting on a day to day basis. That's the whole "me, me, me" mentality wrapped up.
>>
>>27625172
MySpace launched in 2003 and didn't make much of a dent.
>>
>>27624224
It wasn't youtube. It was us. All of us.
>>27624979
We're all the idiots that flooded it. Unless you are making original content. Why the fuck would we do that though unless we're getting paid for it that'd just be dumb to do desu.

This man right here gets it
