1. Meatlovers - sausage, pepperoni, whatever the hell else you want to throw in. Just go fuckin crazy, throw in some onions and olives as well.
2. Veggie - black olive, onions, green peppers, mushrooms if you like them, artichoke isn't terrible, again you really need to load that shit. Minimum 2-3 "toppings"
3. Just cheese and sauce will taste like shit but some special snowflakes don't like meat, don't like veggies. I'd stop being friends with someone who ate/liked cheese-only deep dish.
Now, a better alternative is a pizza that uses crushed tomatoes in the sauce. Then it's less saucy but you still have sufficient tomato. They have that out in California. I've had good pizza in upstate New York (Binghamton) but it was different from the NYC/LI pizza I'm used to.

It's a cultural thing mate. A lot move over in their 20's and this has been going on for a bit of years by now. The younger Irish are still scrutinized by the elder ones heavily and people talk. Most won't take any issue with a black person, but they aren't going to hang out and be friends. They stick to the fellow Irishmen and Iish-Americans
I've been to Europe and I found it pretty funny that you guys slap on the name "American" to anything really shitty and cheap. When you go into the grocery store, there are these "American-style" cookies that are just like really shitty crumbly chocolate chip cookies they sell for a dollar. My group and I went into this "authentic American diner" in Luxembourg (there was this picky bitch who didn't want to go anywhere else) and I ordered a cheeseburger and it was like a shitty slab of meat put in a sub roll with some processed cheese hastily thrown on top.
No wonder you guys have such a poor opinion of American food.
