Are any of you robots interested in collecting stuff? I assume it's a pretty robot hobby.

I'd love to buy so many Pokemon cards but it's a expensive hobby. Show your collections, whatever it might be that you're collecting.

First thing I'll do when moving into my own place is unpacking the folders and taking a deep whiff of those cards.

Guns. I've always had an obsessive collector personality. My first major thing I collected was yugioh cards. My mom would pay me a quarter every time I emptied or loaded the dishwasher, so I would do that until I earned $5 (I think that's how much they were?) so I could buy one of the foil packs. I think they put something addictive in those packs that gave them that smell. It kept me coming back. On birthdays/Christmas I would be able to afford one of the full decks which I think are now $20.

Guns were just what I moved on to when yugioh wasn't cool anymore. Specifically I collect Russian AK derivatives. About half of these guns are mine. I also have a few thousand dollars worth of Russian parts kits (worth much more than that) that I'm proud of.

Not pictured here are my parts and kits, and my latest addition, a PS90 which is a civilian P90.

I wish those were mine. Just a random Google picture I've found. I have some old Pokemon cards which I loved to sort and collect but my parents made sure I wouldn't waste too much money on them.

I have a stubborn attachment to physical media, so books, CDs and some movies. I also have an old video game collection, which is smaller. Not to be cunty about it but I do view the rest (toys, cards etc) as somewhat superfluous.

Once every few years growing up, I've purged some personal effects. Usually the crap I get rid of has been old paperwork I don't need anymore, old clothes (gave a big pile of beta herb unfashionables to Goodwill about a year ago), whatever's ruined, and various toys. About 7-8 years ago I took out all my old lego sets and played with them one last time, assembling them to be attractive for a garage sale. Got rid of all the legos and haven't looked back. I do keep one Capsela 1000 set in the closet out of stubborness, though, same with anime shirts I never wear anymore but refuse to get rid of because that would be capitulating to normie culture.

Also I actually live as an independent adult, yet in a small NEET hovel, so I actually need the small other space in the house for conventional domestics: clothes, dish soap, tools, car fluids, basic items of adult domestication. They take up valuable space. A plunger in the closet that I've never had to use, and hope that remains the case (knock on wood), a personal fire extinguisher I should have tested. This isn't a "collection" of course.

I collected pokemon cards from 2013-2014, spent more than i'm willing to admit and had a collection of about 2,500 cards

I started selling bundles of commons with scaled packs on kijiji and made about 25% back, all I have left is a binder of about 900 rare/holo cards; all individually sleeved and tucked into those 9-pocket plastic binder pages

Yeah only twice though. I'm 23 and they've only played in Indiana(where I live) twice since I've been alive. They kill it live. Everything is faster and heavier live with them. Maybe. I'm an autist who likes to complete whole sets though. Also a huge part of the fun for me is pulling the cards out of the booster packs. Even watching openings on Youtube feels good. That's definitely the expensive way of collecting though. That and you kinda want those pretty holo rares.

That's the saddest story I've heard all day. I'm sorry that she threw out all your boxes and devalued your collection like that. I just buy the cheapest copy of Atari games which means that they have tape on them or the label is ripped but they work just fine. I'm not rich enough to buy a collection with boxes...maybe I should start a review channel like AVGN so I can get fans to donate their stuff to me.

But the most I've spent on an old book was $20. My university is pretty old and has (used) book sales every year. I've bought most my books from there and thrift stores. I have 10-15 books from the 1800's.

Amazon and Lukie Games. I hate buying consoles and games online because sometimes they don't work and it's a bitch to return them. There use to be a family store nearby that sold tons of old vidya shit but the disappeared off the face of the earth one day.

I used to collect Japanese kaiju/mecha keshigomu/sofubi figures and models or indie toys inspired by that, like Glyos or S.U.C.K.L.E or OMFG.

Lately I've put that on hold because of low-$$$ and I'm trying to avoid clutter due to "muh minimalist lifestyle" (I don't wanna be a spergy hoarder) so I only buy if the toy's reasonably priced and if it looks cool enough.

Originally I bought it while at a law office figuring I could chop up the photos I like from the book and frame it.
Then I realized I was holding on to something really, really nice. If I had the other volumes this was published with it would be worth 3-5k. The photographer Eduardo Baldus was known in France at the time for his photography skills so the Republic commissioned him to photograph each individual work that was being done architecturally to the Louvre. If I'm not mistaken originally it was only released to European nobility upon completion of the Louvre.

I agree, it looks lovely but you saying you wanted to reframe the pictures triggered me the fuck out.

A word of advice is if you're collecting just for resell value you should be ultra careful, but $100 for that seems very reasonable. If you get joy from it and enjoy it it's definitely a good price. I doubt you can get it or anything of its caliber for cheaper elsewhere.

So long as you enjoy it I'm not jealous but happy for you since it's in someone's possession who deserves it :)

Yeah I've got a couple of those. It was one of their first Demos with Mustaine playing on it. It sounds really good. Before they got signed they sounded just like Diamond Head. Sounded awesome.
This year they are the sponsors for Record Store Day and I have 4k dollars put aside from my tax return all going to Metallica Records. They are reissuing the first two albums on collectors edition. Plus they are releasing a 2003 French concert on record with procedes going to terror victims.
