>>
boil it more

Quit taking the lid off of your pot when you cook it.

Use less water.

Try steaming it in a metal strainer for soft and fluffy rice.

What are your steps when you're cooking your rice?
>>
im a fucking expert okay

this is how you cook rice

1 cup of rice
2 cups of water

use the same cup that you used to measure the rice

make sure that you cook it on low and just leave it and DONT TAKE THE LID OFF JUST LEAVE IT AND DONT MIX IT OR ANYTHING until all the water is gone and the rice isn't soggy or anything

take the lid off to test the rice when all the water has been absorbed

>>27600874
I'm using the instructions on the bag 2 cups of water then bring to a boil then turn the heat down for 20 minutes

Why didn't my mum teach me this type of stuff?
>>
>>27600894
How do I know when it's absorbed all the water if I can't see inside the pot? I have a glass lid but it fogs up

how? you can sorta see when the rice is done when you remove the lid

2 cups of water 1 cup of rice

put it in a pot, put it on max temperature until it's boiling, then put it down on medium for 15-20 minutes

remove the lid for a short time whenever it starts to foam
>>
>>27600908
take a peek some how just try not to let out too much steam otherwise that's like pouring out the water which will make your rice hard and uncooked
>>
>>27600909
I never see proper cooks do this but this is what I do and it's still OK. I just feel like a fuck up because I can't cook rice even though I can cook other shit

>>27600912
But everyone says to not remove the lid
>>
Note that 2:1 water:rice by volume assumes you didn't wash the rice. If it's wet from washing it, use less water to compensate.

>>27600908
If you always use the same pot and same temperature and same time then it will always cook the same and you won't need to look. If you take the lid off it won't cook at all because you let the heat out.

You're not supposed to boil it.
You're supposed to steam it with a lid on, you knob.

If it starts to foam you have it turned up too high.

Buy a rice cooker!
>>
Definitive guide for stove top cooking of rice.

Get pot.
Get 1 cup

Put 1 cup of rice into the pot.
Get 2 cups of water and pour them into the pot.
Put the lid on.
Turn your stove on.
Put it on low.
Leave it to boil for about half an hour.
Come back
Check to see if it has absorbed water.

If yes, take off lid and turn off heat and let the excess water steam off.

If the rice is still hard, leave lid on and cook for another 10 minutes or so.

Make sure you get the 1 cup rice, 2 cups water ratio right or you will FUCK IT UP.

OK guys I'll save this thread and try again later. I'm off to eat my soggy rice now which is still bretty good desu
>>
>>27600898
"turn the head down for 20 minutes" should be more like "simmer until all water in pot has turned to steam or been absorbed by rice." this can take 40 minutes or more.
>>
The ratio we usually use is 1 cup of rice to 1.5 cup of water. We wash the rice first though. Then leave it on low heat for 20-30 mins. After that, let it sit for another 5-10 mins before eating.
>>
>>27601034
how many tablespoons of salt would you recommend?
>>
>>27600858
If you can afford it, get a rice cooker. They are cozy appliances. They cook rice perfectly, and can keep it warm for a few days, so you can keep eating it.
>>
I am Asian, i know the secret
just double the water to rice, cover the pot, but it on high until it boils then KEEPING THE COVER ON, turn it low and let is sit until its dry( 20 ish mins)

Hey anon, here's a simple trick to get rice just right:

1. I's OK to add more water while you are cooking. It won't be as good, but that way it's easier to control the amount of water.
2. Once the rice is done, take it of the heat, leave it in the pot (closed) and cover the pot with something (some cloth you have lying around or newspaper will do just fine).
3. Leave it there for a while (I usually prepare the rice first and then cook the meat).
4. Open the pot and let off some steam. Your rice should be awesome now.
