What was tougher?

Fighting the NVA in Vietnam or fighting off the Samurai in the Pacific Theater?

Which group of Marines were objectively better? Whether it be leadership or the bulk fighters?

Why?
>>
Vietnam must have been tougher (psychologically at least, no clear reason to fight, precedent set with WW2), but the men fighting the Pacific War were undoubtly better soldiers.

>the Samurai
Weeb detected
The IJA was not a group of samurai

Apples and oranges comparison. So many differences to be completely honest family.

A better question would be fighting the NVA in Vietnam or fighting ZANLA/ZIPRA in Rhodesia.

The rhodesians were doing extremely well in the war, their problem was how the south Africa cut off their petrol which completely destroyed their war effort and caused their surrender. And of course, this betrayal was engineered by Britain and America.

I would contend the forces in Vietnam were far better soldiers, given that not only there was a greater deal of training both for volunteer and drafted personnel, but also that soldiers in Vietnam had something ridiculous like "The average infantryman in the South Pacific during World War II saw about 40 days of combat in four years. The average infantryman in Vietnam saw about 240 days of combat in one year thanks to the mobility of the helicopter."
Not to mention the hospitals made it easier to keep men in the fight hence more experience in the field.

both were walks in the park compared to the Eastern Front in WW2.

On average, sure. In Vietnam there were still plenty of good soldiers on par with their counterparts in WWII, but there were also tons of hippie faggots fresh from the draft to bring the average down across the force.

>WWII
>Japs in that bunker on top of the hill have everyone pinned down, we're gonna take it or die trying
>k, semper fi, off we go

>Vietnam
>Charlie is somewhere in that section of jungle laying ambushes, we're going on a patrol to smoke them out
>Nah man, muh feels n drugs, *frags officer, desserts, goes to canada*

Fuck, I can't even imagine how awful that must have been. For the Germans it was all one big party until Stalingrad, and then the level of dejection must have been awful. They went from hosing down fleeing soviets and clear superiority to agonizing wintery starving death in the blink of an eye. For the Soviets it would have been even worse, constant meatgrinder, even during victories. People who survived their battles on both sides were fucked too, gulags or concentration camps. Absolute hell on earth beyond anything else in history
