> Music is my biggest passion in life
> Love listening to it, collecting, and making music
> Have zero interest in going to concerts/festivals
> Been to quite a few (across many genres); just don't like them
> Literally every girl I meet/talk to is OBSESSED with going to concerts, live shows, and festivals

What the hell is this recent trend of girls becoming infatuated with live music? It really seemed to only pick up in the last 5-6 years.
>>
bateman please go

They only like going to concerts to find Chad dick

They go to concerts to get fucked

Like every other interest a woman has, it isn't about the interest it is about the other people interested in that interest.

I thought that, too but three of my closest female friends are like this, and they tend to avoid males as much as they can when they go to concerts.

Girls like dancing who knew?
>>
>>27578863
I would go to more live music events if there wasn't people who might recognise me there. Girls are probably more extroverted on average and enjoy that hefty environmental stimuli. It's probably just a social thing for the most part/it's nice to experience music you enjoy in a setting where you can watch the musicians I guess.
>>
>>27578863
You are a fake lil bitch if you don't like them.

"Music is my life but I'm too much of a pussy to go see the real thing because I prefer the comfort of my room and I might have to socialize"

It's a form of a party and something you don't get to do everyday.

>It's probably just a social thing for the most part/it's nice to experience music you enjoy in a setting where you can watch the musicians I guess.
This plus light shows, and dancing/moshing with a ton of people is really fun.
Also at festivals people are really relaxed. Everyone is super friendly. You can walk into any group of people, say hey and people will be super nice to you.
>inb4 not if you're ugly
It's a different world than in society. Truly the closest thing to a hippie commune of sorts without actually being in a commune.
I consider myself pretty introverted and anxious in general, I avoid people 90% of the time in public places. But at festivals everyone is so nice after half a day I find myself being friendly myself and meeting all kinds of people. I tote around my kettle drum and find people playing guitar and stuff in the campground and jam if I'm taking a break from the concert venue.
It's a great time, and restores lost faith in humanity.

You're a fucking plebeian. I enjoy music. MUSIC, not crowds, not socializing, not what the band looks like, just their music. Listening to the music with no outside contexts, just listening for what it is, is how true music lovers listen. Concert goers just want to do drugs and dance while a song they like plays, the sound itself barely matters.

this

it's not about the music, it's that it's an event where they can dance and get trashed on drugs/alcohol and take some Chad cock
>>
>>27579214
Sounds like you're the plebeian, mate.

Live music can often sound better than recorded music. What you're listening to at home is the polished, crafted, manufactured, immaculately presented version. The live version can be raw, spontaneous, more emotional, more energetic, or whatever else.

If you're not interested in live music, you're missing out on half of the entire fucking point of music. What do you think people did for all of the thousands of years before it became possible to record sound? They went to hear music in person. Because that's, traditionally, how it's meant to be heard.

Don't try to pass off your "so introverted" nonsense as something artistically credible.
>>
>>27579269
>EDM babbiez
So do you even like edm? Because I would think if you did you wouldn't care because it boils down to you're there to dance.
Go to a non "major" festival that has music you actually enjoy.

>What the hell is this recent trend of girls becoming infatuated with live music? It really seemed to only pick up in the last 5-6 years.
Social media. Women want to go to concerts so that they can appear to have fun, and then show it to others.
>>
>>27579314
>What do you think people did for all of the thousands of years before it became possible to record sound?
back then they didnt have huge painful speakers or ridiculously large crowds
not even drugs actually
>>
>>27579314
>Live music can often sound better than recorded music

This is so extremely rare as to be almost negligible. I can count the number of artists who sound consistently better live on one hand.

You must have shit taste senpai. Almost every concert I've been too has been at least on par with the recording. And I've been to a lot of shows
>>
>>27579314
Live music never sounds better because you can't fucking hear it. I go to classical and jazz concerts, yes those are better live because the crowd shuts the fuck up for a minute. If you go to a typical concert setting though, no, you are not hearing better music, you're hearing only the notes that pierce through the roar of the crowd around you.
And there are live recordings which make your point moot anyway.
>>
>>27579314
> Been to about two dozen live music acts in my lifetime
> Being generous, about 3-4 of them were memorable experiences
> The metal/punk shows were sloppy as hell
> The electronic shows/DJ sets were incredibly boring and low-energy
> The ambient/chillwave shows were literally just the DJ playing MP3s off their laptop
> The indie/alt. shows were incredibly tryhard, with every member trying to outdo one another

The only live shows which were fun were hip hop shows, and even then, now they're starting to suck.
>>
>>27579387
What kind of concerts are you going to? LOL are you only going to Arena shows and sitting in the very back?
Go to a General admission show. The crowd is much much more lively and the sound is contained enough in the smallish space you can't hear someone talking unless they yell in your ear. Seriously I think maybe you've been to one concert before and had a bad time or something it's never like you say lol.
>>
>>27579343
>I can count the number of artists who sound consistently better live on one hand.

It's not always a consistent thing though.

Sometimes artists hit the right groove and manage to reinvent one or two songs live in a way that demolishes the studio version.

Also, a lot of bands/artists demo songs live before recording them for their next album. Almost every time this happens you will have significant numbers of people who prefered the original live arrangement to what came out of the studio.
>>
>>27579112
Light shows...

Anyway for the rest, it sounds nice in theory sure. I have a sneaking suspicion that a lot of these hippyfags are jumping on the bandwagon of something that's cool to be doing. Which is fine but can they fuck off and do it away from me (ie I won't be attending).

> You can walk into any group of people, say hey and people will be super nice to you.

... Well isn't that dandy.

Good reasons going on concerts:
-supporting them
-like minded people, this depends on your type of music
-meeting like minded chicks, i too wish
-Chance of the music sounding better although the chance of it getting worse is same
- Chance to rock that fit at the best time
- Tickets cheap at most times

Bad reasons
-enjoying sweaty touching you
-enjoying your toe getting stepped
-Spit either on purpose or not
-Pickpocketed
-Elbowed
- either weak crowd, the phone snapchatting crowd, loud mfers that sing along you cant hear it or all of this

>>
>>27578907

>>
>>27578863

Difference is that girls go to these kind of places to get free drinks/get drugged and grind Chad's dick.

Chads are the same, they go to clubs for pussy/drug alcohol.

Only Betas go to clubs for music. And I'm one of them, I've been to countless clubs and festival without ever touching a single woman or taking drugs.
>>
Dumb Stacies don't give a fuck about the music when they go to concerts, their only worry there is to socialise(e.g taking photos with unknown people),obtain 200 telephone numbers before leaving and getting as drunk as possible

When one roastie tells you that they love concerts is because they actually love doing any of the mentioned things, the music is a cheap excuse
>>
>>27579567
No...music is art, it's about expression. If you're making music just to get laid it's going to be trash. Like most top 40 shit.
If you honestly believe getting laid is the end all goal of a musician I feel sorry for you that you put the pussy on that much of a pedestal.

It's cuz you're a fuckin moron and listen to trash music. Of course EDM and other "party" club music attracts the biggest degenerates. You are case in point OP. If you were actually interested in real music and have been to any actual shows you'd know this is not what music is actually about

I don't want any of that, I want to listen to the perfected version of the song, which is the recorded version.

>If you're not interested in live music, you're missing out on half of the entire fucking point of music.
The point of music is that it sounds good, just like the point of art is that it looks good. If you believe anything else you're postmodern trash and probably a normie as well.
>>

>tfw at an Iceage show
>standing by the wall, close to the stage
>wow there's a lot more females here than last time
>this one is dancing in front of me, about three feet away

Let me pause for a second to educate you on the differences between men and women dancing at concerts. Men usually nod their head or tap their feet along with the music; their movement is generally forward and back. Women will twist their torso from side to side will moving up and down; their movement is much more erratic. Anyways, on with the program.

>she starts slowly moving backwards, not realizing I'm behind her
>nowhere to move since I'm on the wall and there's people in front of and behind me
>she keeps moving backwards
>try to make myself smaller, bring my body in towards the wall
>she's still inching her way backwards
>what the fuck there's like three feet of space in front of her now
>she's swinging her hair in my face
>shove her away with one arm like someone might do at the edge of a mosh pit
>she looks at me with the most disgusted look, like I had hit her or something

Women dancing at rock concerts pisses the shit out of me. They always require like a four-foot radius to accommodate the swinging of their arms and hair.

Another Iceage story. They were playing at a dive bar in my town at midnight on a Thursday, so the room wasn't incredibly packed; they kept drinking Mad Dog 20/20 throughout the set, and pretty much everyone except the guitarist sounded like shit, but who cares because its fucking Iceage.

Anyways, there's this normie couple that starts making out halfway through the set, right in front of the stage. Based Elias sees this, crouches down by them, and shoves them away from him. They ended up leaving like five minutes later. Was p cool.

>>
This thread had potential but has fallen on its face. I am here to add a quality post.

So there are two separate trends identified here:

1) Guys who listen to music at home alone, mostly on headphones, and care deeply about it. (I definitely am part of this, personally)

2)Women who go to concerts / live music events but don't seem to care that deeply about the actual music or artists.

First, I am going to look at guy 1.

This guy has listened to a lot of music in isolation. The music is probably not catchy or pop-y - its hard listening. This person though may have had some really amazing experiences listening, but these are hard to share with others, they are hard won. How can you explain to another person how amazing this atmospheric black metal album is when they dont even know the genre? You have to had done a lot of listening to achieve the high of finding that one amazing track. This pushes the listener further into isolation; it makes it harder to relate to other people. Even other "ioslated listeners" will be hard to relate to because your taste is so personal and specific.

Now lets look at girl 2.

The person has gone to a lot of live events. They listen to music at home, but mostly as background to their chilling. Their taste tends to be pop-y. Some people consider them "basic", but in actuality their taste is pretty sophisticated; they really know what they like. In their concert going experience they have had some really amazing times. Times where they felt so connected to the artist and their friends and the crowd. They might drink or smoke or do drugs at these events, but its not required. Going to shows is also really important for their friendships and relationships: going to events is one of the main ways that they get to do special things with their friends.

Did this help?
>>
>>27578863

What's the problem here op? I go to shows as much as I can (and when bands I like are around), and there are a lot of girls there but so what?

Who fucking cares why they are there? Just enjoy the show or stop caring you little faggot, you're not above anyone. You're not a special snowflake and no one is impressed.
