Try going site seeing, on vacations, on road trips, having just a lazy day, doing what you actually want to do with a kid. Living vicariously through them has its limits, you get burnt out on it fast. You try to mold them for things you are excited for and they go a completely different route, and sometimes it's difficult to feign interest for their sake. Sure, you miss out on a lot by not having a kid, but there's too much of the world out there to pretend you'd just get bored without one.
