My teeth haven't started hurting yet, they feel normal but what should I do so I don't end up having to get a root canal? Should I stop typing right now and go brush/floss them?
Should probably brush them now, and probably brush right before bed too. Also, get one of thoes floss holding sticks, makes flossing hella easy.
There's this weird part of your late teens/early 20's that you can't really get cavities no matter how shitty you eat. It's going to end sooner than you think.

Not the case for everyone. I've had cavities all my life. It's genetics. Some people brush their teeth once a week and never have any problems. My mother, brother and me brush daily but still have shit teeth full of cavities. My brother recently had to get all of his pulled and he's only 33. I've chipped two of my teeth and separate occasions.
I'm guessing OP has some God-tier tooth genetics if he hasn't brushed in a year and isn't in debilitating pain.
Still, yes OP go brush now. Don't take your teeth for granted.

OP i havent brushed my teeth in over 5 years. I went to the dentist last year and got 1 crown and 2 cavities.
As long as you dont eat much sugar your teeth dont really just rot and fall out.

avoiding sugary drinks and foods is more important than brushing. also, flossing is probably more important than brushing. keep a thing of floss in your desk drawer. i eat at my desk, and love flossing after every meal. feels good man

Plaque has probably built up, you need a professional cleaning done. But yes. And you should brush the gums more than the teeth, read up on it.
