You have to solve a pithagoras triangle, but need to name another point for that. Lets call the middle point in RS as "P" (where the little square is; as in 2*PS=RS)
You now have the "PSO" triangle, where:
OS=12cm
OP=6cm
OP^2+PS^2=OS^2
6^2+PS^2=12^2
36+PS^2=144
PS^2=144-36
PS=10.39cm
RS=2*PS
RS=2*10.39
RS=20.78cm

You can use sine function too, but pithagoras is cleaner I think. And more basic.

Not sure if you are right, keeping the assumption P is the centre of RS. You know OS = 12, and you know PS and OP are the same length. So PS^2 + OP^2 = 144, so PS and OP are 6root2. So RS is 12 root 2.
