I wish being able to work your way out of poverty wasn't a meme.

But my parents were abusive alcoholic junkies and I grew up in literal crack dens. Now I'm getting paid AU$41,000 a year to go to uni to study a field I love and I've got a guaranteed job paying $60k+overtime next year. Should rise to an industry average of $200,000 w/in a few years.

So what's that about not being able to work your way out of poverty?

Who is paying you that to study? Are you on Abstudy or something?
>>
>>27554281
1 25k scholarship from a gov department
1 10k scholarship from an industry association
1 6k scholarship from my uni
No longer eligible for any means-tested Centrelink support but being eligible at the time I applied was one of the requirements for the 10k and 6k scholarships. Luckily I don't need to stay eligible to keep receiving them.

You get paid 40k a year and a guaranteed job paying more than that and you're still here.
You're shits all fucked up desu senpai

10% of unemployment in France... How the Hell am I supposed to find a job ?
>>

Probably by getting the fuck out of France, or being willing to work unglamorous low prestige jobs.

>Try a temp service.
>Theyll give you a job so long as you aren't crackhead or fellon, and you do have a high school diploma or ged.
>most have a same-day interview, and will find something for you within a week or 2.
>good for a first job experience. They may bounce you around a few places which will give all you neets and tfwnojobfags some skills and work history
>theyll send you to factories, warehouses, labor places from mild to hard, and could hook you up if you have a skill or trade
>if you like the place they send you, and the place likes your work ethic they will hire you permenantly
>boom! You have a job!

>look for places that have advancement oppertunities if your the ambitious type
They sent me to 2 different warehouses (one as an operator/general laborer, one as a forktruck driver), and 2 factories. The last one i got hired into. I started as a humble operator and got promoted to a parts inspecter, then to a labtech. If your cyborg enough to make friends with higher ups itll open up so many opportunities. Soon ill be starting training to be a team lead in a few months.

We may suck at everything else in life, but if you work hard and play your cards right youll at least have a decent job. Babysteps.

What county are you in, famoriginalio?
>>
>>27555611
Murica. Dont know if its the same way everywhere else, but its worth a shot. If youre a student abroad about to graduate its worth a try to get over here. Jobs arent that bad depending on your state and area. Im in one of the lucky ones where their are plenty of basic labor positions open.
>>
>>27555574
This is an excellent plan and much better than working at Mcdonalds (not that there's anything wrong with that, I've certainly worked my fair share of fast food jobs before sperging out and going full NEET for years.) You can pad out your resume and basically get a skilled trade for free by using temp services.

What does that image show?

At least within the West, the average person's life is hundreds of times better than a hundred, or fifty, or even twenty years ago.

Running water toilets, shower, air conditioning\heating, access to unlimited information, more and more nutritious food and variety of fresh fruit and veg, etc.

All of these are exploding, and many of these things didn't exist even 20 years ago.
>>
>>27555780
It is. I got regected from 25+, i repeat 25+ fast food, basic retail positions, ect because no work history or references. They gave me a job right after they finished my paperwork and background checks. Wish i would did it first instead of wasting my time like i did. Labtechfag has good advice in that post.

Can you share some more details about your early life and what was so harsh about it? Give us some greentext.

Also please explain about the scholarships, are these scholarships you got rare? Usually scholarships are rare and hard to get. It doesn't help the OP much that you happened to be one of the winners if it's a rare thing. On what grounds were they awarded to you?
>>
Working in factories makes me want to kill myself even more than I already do. I just can't focus on the repetitive shit and hate it so much that I stay awake most of the night dreading the next day of it. I quit and have been a neet since. I'm more of a loser now but at least I'm not thinking of spending my next payday on a shotgun to kill myself anymore.
>>
>>27556187

Start spending 2 hours a day teaching yourself programming. At worst in a years time you'll have wasted 730 hours. It's also possible you'll have gained enough skill to be employable at a higher level, possibly working on a schedule that's more suitable to you, from home.
>>
>>27556246
Can it be done for free? My savings have dwindled to a whopping $24 at this point.
>>
>>27555574
>Try a temp service

Why the hell do people keep repeating this retarded meme? They don't fucking work, they're a complete waste of time and money

Do you honestly think youth unemployment would be up to ~50% in some countries if it was just as easy as hurr durr give ur resume to this company?
>>
>>27556293

It's only a suggestion, and I don't program myself, but yes there are many free online sources where you could pick up enough knowledge to have a framework of understanding to build on. Plenty of youtube tutorials and actual sites where you do exercises and so on. There are also ebooks and pdfs.
>>
>>27556306
The temp agencies are crooked as hell too. They lie their asses off about good opportunities coming while they keep sending you to short lived menial labor jobs that will never hire you permanently. The ones in my area even make you pay for the drug tests they give you. Even the random ones after hire. $25 a pop.
>>
>>27555574
That's really good. I was just thinking of trying one of those and forgot all about it since I have one job already.

>>27555830
Man fuck off with that shit. I just don't want to be dirt fucking poor anymore. It drives me up the fucking walls not making any progress. Honestly megacorps only get away with paying people shit and the top people a lot because the workers have no ambition, if they're making ends meet and can put something away in savings they could at least try to start their own business. That's what I plan on doing.

>>27556122
Dude he's from Australia. It's probably one of the only places in the world where a white guy can get a scholarship without doing something like sports. He got it for being born in the right place.

I seriously doubt that's true. I was around in the 90's and life before the internet was TERRIBLE, you have no idea.

You aren't fat because you don't eat more calories than you burn.

You wouldn't be poor if you didn't spend more money than you earn.

Literally that easy. So many retards with no impulse control itt

>Give us some greentext.
Rather not go into too much detail but, lets see, there's the time police raided the house we were squatting in because some abbo had shaken their baby to death in the backyard, the time I invited some friends around for a sleepover only for my mother to be violently raped in front of us (needless to say, most of those friends weren't allowed to speak to me much after that) or the time my father ironed my face because I used a toy spear to try to stop him continuing to beat my mother after he threw her down the stairs (still got the scars from that one). I could've kept writing 'til I hit the word limit but that's the sort of level I mean when I say it was harsh.

That was early childhood, thanks to court-mandated drug programs, government housing and Australia's generous social welfare net things were much better by the time by mid-high school. We were still surviving on the dole but at least it started going towards food rather than alcohol and I had a secure roof over my head.

The scholarships were all awarded based on either highschool marks or marks+consideration of disadvantaged background. If you're smart they're all achievable.
Basically what this guy >>27556372 said. The Australian social welfare system works extremely well and I am sincerely grateful that I've had the opportunity to drag myself up to where I am now. Basically anyone in Australia who isn't mentally ill, drug-addicted or a natural fuckup can end up earning around $70,000 without too much difficulty.

Usa young people are more employed now than ever in the usas history
>>
>>27557388
Yeah, with precarious jobs...

There is no social construct in the US. No Free healthcare, no free college, no retirement, you can get fired anytime...
The greatest thing capitalism has done is getting the people it alienates and exploits to be its advocates.
>>
>>27557388
Are you talking about sheer numbers without factoring in the fact that there are just a lot more people in total?

Labor force participation rare is still way down and that's what really matters.

>>
>>27556306
Money? Mine only started charging me AFTER they had given me they job. Got my piss test after my paperwork.

What kind of shithole that only has 50% youth employment do you like in? If its THAT bad then either take advantage as an entrepreneur or learning skills or make plans to find work outside of your shithole.

The facts is there is ALWAYS something that needs doing. That means money. Tell me, how is YOUR jobhunt doing? If you are truely that desperate for money you will find ways to make it. If you are not making an effort you are not in that much need or just making excuses for laziness.

>spent 2 years mowing grass and scraping up roadkill off of roads for money to eat. Sometimes ended up eating it if it was fresh enough.

Fucking millennials
>>
>>27558621
Man, if you made so little money that you had to resort to roadkill recipes then you should sue for exploitation. Even at minimum wage I have never seen anyone that had to scavenge like an animal.
>>
>>27559000
I was thrown out and jobhunting at the time. Cleaning up lawns and roads in suburbs and for HOA for cash to get me through it. Yeah most temp service places are shit. But its a good option. At least they will give you an interview. Put in probley over 200 applications with most not calling back but they gave me a start. Most people do the bare minimum and whine when they either dont get anything or get something "too tedious or minial and below" them. It makes me so salty.
>>
>>27559246
Not that guy.

I'm not saying that people shouldn't put any effort in, but I also don't think people should have to beg for a horrible job just to slave away to barely afford food and a place to stay, if they're even that lucky.

People in this kind of situation, in what is supposed to be a civilized society, SHOULD be whining and asking for better. Things should not be this bad in 2016.
>>
>>27556306
This. I joined one did tests, even had former job experience and they didn't place me anywhere.
>>
>>27559417
I understand that but sometimes beggars cant be choosers and you have to work with what you got till something better comes along. Most people here stop at "it aint gonna work/why even try/boohoo" rather than work to build them selves up.

It just boggles my mind how far people could get if they were to try and yet people dont. Even if its just modest progress its something. I dont even kno why i still come to /r9k/ anymore. I got sucked in and now cant escape.
>>
>>27559495
I think the main problem is that some temp services are absolute crap, and some are genuinely decent as long as you have a clean record/good health/score well on their tests/etc.

Someone else mentioned in this thread that they had to pay $25 for a drug test before even being able to get any job offers, that's a telltale sign of an awful temp agency. A good one would wait until you get an offer, then you'd go on an interview, then if the interview was successful you'd have a drug test (paid for by the hiring company.)
>>
>>27559865
Sometimes it's only logical to figure out the odds and act accordingly.

You could go to a casino and throw money into a slot machine. Theoretically, you could win thousands of dollars, even millions if you keep doing it long enough and keep winning, but any reasonably intelligent person knows that the odds are against you and you're far more likely to lose money than to gain money at a casino.

When it comes to most things in life, you can't actually make progress or gain rewards without some level of risk and gambling. A lot of people can't even *try* to get a job without spending money on transportation and other expenses. and all that money is just lost if you don't actually get the job.

Personally, the main thing that has stopped me from trying to get a job is just that I feel the odds of me ever achieving happiness that way are extremely low. I'm not very intelligent, have a poor memory, and lack passion for anything viable for making money. The way I see it, the odds of me ever finding a job I don't hate are so low that it's not worth going through the pain of jobs I hate to try to get there. I also think it's extremely unlikely that I'd ever find a woman who's right for me to start a family with, which contributes greatly to my lack of motivation. Is it possible? Sure, just like it's possible to win a lottery for millions of dollars, but I'm not one to gamble on making myself poorer or more miserable for a one in a million chance of it actually leading to more happiness. The way I see it, I'm best off being NEET as long as I can, because I can at least have a handful of years of relaxation and easy life guaranteed, rather than what would most likely be an entire life of misery or early death.
