There's really no greater satisfaction than coming home at the end of the day, tired but proud of the labor you put in. Helps you sleep better than any IT job ever could.

Only advice I can give is that keep in touch with your mates from uni who are in the industry that can recommend you. Also learn a tonne of languages to stick on your CV, you will greatly increase your chances if you have experience in what they are after.

Networking yes, Generalizing? No. That's the fastest route to becoming obsolete. Learn Batch/Bash. Learn some Python. Learn how to navigate command line and not look like a fucking rere doing it. Learn a specialist language if you have a company that you're going for, and something generic otherwise.
