Undertale made a metric fuckload of money and it has some of the shittiest pixel art I've seen in any, ANY game ever released, that includes games published over twenty years ago. Granted obviously people play it for the storytelling and characters, I haven't played it myself but it's a prime example of how easy it is to make bank as long as you press the right notes (ie appeal to furry, tumblr, pretentiousness, subverting expectations, etc.)
