My hair has regrown now but thinner in the places I lost it from. It was a hormonal supplement. Honestly sometimes I think about going back on it, but I can't imagine actually being bald.

Asked my previous dermatologist if I should use accutane and the like, used it for a month and I stopped having acne after 2 weeks, got the usual dry lips/skin though. After I stopped using it it came back and I got a new dermatologist. He put me on minocycline or something, after I started using it I had no acne after like the 3rd day, no side effects either. I'll have to get some more, seems like it works way better than accutane/roaccutane.
Thing is, I've seen people comment on all sorts of stuff, and it never seems to work the same on everybody. Some people will get no reaction from anything, others from everything.
Still, while the side effects weren't all that bad, it sure is nice to use something that has none.
Med school textbook I borrowed says that 2% Salicylic Acid when applied in the morning and before bed treats 90% of acne for people that have it. It is labeled as a medicinal ingredient.
It costs a little but it works like a god, anything without it is a scam.
Just make sure you don't get 2% Salicylic Acid with cream or lotion shit in it, cause that basically undoes what it was meant to do.
Everything else is just garbage and never works.
If that doesn't work you must talk to your doctor.

Hi so I'm 19 but my acne started when I was 15 and at that time I was anorexic too. So like think about it, u walk down the street and u see a 6'2 slender boy with bad acne and you'd probably think he's the ugliest motherfucker. Yeah that's how I felt. I even went through depression cus of it. But now I'm definitely getting better but I still get a bit of acne. I even started going to the gym and gained some lean muscle. But so far I've never even had a girlfriend yet. I know I suck at life and acne is probably my one of the biggest adversities in life but I'm telling all of you not to give up. I will never be comfortable in my own skin but I will train myself to overlook that and be as confident as I can be. Accutane is the closest thing to a miracle in modern pharmaceuticals. Your skin will become so smooth and clear, that you will spend half the day just rubbing your fingers across it. It's dazzling.
Those horror stories about suicide and liver failure are as credible as vaccine autism. People have pre-existing conditions, don't follow doctor's instructions, etc.
I was on Accutane for 6 months and it was amazing--but beware of a few things:
1) the most common side effect is drying of mucous membranes. Buy a good chapstick, because the corners of your lips could split when you yawn, bite into a sandwich, laugh heartily, etc. The capillaries in your nose will also become more delicate, so expect some blood in your snot when you blow.
2) the triglycerides in your bloodstream will greatly increase so you are required to visit your clinic monthly for a blood test. If your diet includes a lot of fatty foods, you'll need to cut back or it WILL cause permanent damage to your liver. Also, if you take any supplements with high concentrations of vitamin A, discontinue it during treatment. Accutane is basically a sub-lethal dose of vitamin A.
3) speaking of livers, your liver is working overtime to process the drug. Go light on alcohol, avoid completely if you can bear it. Getting shitfaced will probably wreck you.
4) results after the treatment are highly variable. Some enjoy persistent clarity for the rest of their lives after treatment, while some deal with only minor breakouts. And then there are some who relapse. In my case, 6 weeks after I stopped treatment, I broke out the worst I ever had in my entire life (was 25 at the time). It was so bad I began to cry, I refused to go to work, I made my family lie to cover for me. I looked wretched and monstrous. I felt great during my 6 month treatment, but then I had it all taken away from me in the worst way possible.
Still, it was worth it.

Hi guys, a word of advice, this might work for some, not for others but it's definitely worth a try.
I'm 26 and started having acne problems when I was 12. I have been under a number of treatments (topical, medical, hygiene related) including 3 accutane courses without success, some derms said it was due to my age and that after 24-25 the acne should go away, this wasn't the case.
A year ago my confidence was at a record low thinking that I was going to have to deal with horrible acne (face, chest, scalp) for the rest of my life until I noticed a relation with the food I was eating. After making a food log and counting new bumps for a couple of weeks I realized that eating foods with gluten were "triggering" my acne. I started to be very careful with reading labels and avoiding gluten altogether and to my surprise I have been acne free for 2 months now.
Again this might not work for all, but to me it was a HUGE relief, my confidence has never been better.

Acne is my fucking curse. I've tried everything. All the topical stuff doesn't seem to help much. I was on minocycline for awhile, which cleared up the acne for a few years, but then my body developed a resistance to the antiobiotic and now it's coming back with a vengeance. Use high quality products so that you dont break out further:
- a green concealer to get rid of the redness
- followed by lightly dabbing on concealer that is the same colour as your skin onto the zit with a sponge/beautyblender

I tried all the bro and mom tricks, stopping diary and gluten foods, showering every day, changing sheets every day, stopping sugary foods, not using soap, not eating meat etc.
Things I know that fix it:
- Clindamycin (antibiotic so you shouldn't abuse it)
- Combination of sun + beach (just sun doesn't work, it's the salty water and the sand plus the sun that eat it away; comes back after a few months)
- Washing every day with Zinc pyritione or tea tree oil (both are very drying and already have really dry, flacking skin)
It might be folliculitis. I took Acutane as a teenager and it fixed it for me a lot but never went away completely, it only left me with dry skin to this day, which is the bane of my existence and makes me almost suicidal.

Actually, this thing about no popping is wrong.
The bigger you let the cyst become before it pops the bigger the scar it will leave. The largest scars I have are on my back because I mostly left them alone and they popped while sleeping. It's better to get when right away with clean fingers.
Accutane fucking works, it's hell being dry even inside your fucking nose but you will forget that when you aren't forced to check on your face ever morning when you wake up with this dull throbbing pain or planning where to sit to avoid direct sunlight on your face when in public.... Three weeks into my first round of Accutane I felt no pain in my face and it hit me, life is so much better when you don't have to deal with a perpetual toothache like pain that wrecks your every chance of normal social growth because you also have fucking puddles of death in your face. If you do just a few extra things while on Accutane you will only be better off, the side effect are from doctors not understanding the correct harm reduction. I had to figure it out and I would so that Shit every year I'd I had to, the only real bother is that you can't get drunk while on Accutane. It will just murder your liver. Whenever I find people on the fence about this I feel almost like it's my duty to inform them how easy it actually is and how much you can speed up and help the medicating. You can cut the treatment period in half if you have the proper instructions. It did fucking wonders for me. I'd answer some questions if serious enough.
tfw I got rid of my severe acne but my entire face and body is filled with raised scars that according to my determatologist is untreatable and will never go away. I had acne like this but I've lowered it to a large degree through dropping all shitty foods. My diet is literally 3 canned beans and doritos now. It's still quite fucked and my scaring is horrendous.
