Do self-help books actually "help" I figured it was a brainwashing marketing scam to get rich by selling millions of books to people who think reading them would improve their lives.

It's kind of like with the popular "Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy" self-help book on conquering depression, it was the most popular self help book on depression and still is, even though it was written in the 80's or some shit.
