I work with female Security all the time, they are useful as fuck because you need someone to do body searches on women and do checks on the ladies toilets. Even though they aren't worth shit in a fight they are still worth having around just for that.

Most insurance companies will offer lower rates if your business has different levels of security. Locks, CCTV or actual Guards. Some bars will only be given licences if they get in house Security.
Some businesses take it seriously and get enough Security to actually make a difference, some businesses just get the bare minimum to cover the insurance, then make a claim if anything happens.
