because the genes given to us by our ancestors were designed to survive a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, not a post-industrial one
we were never supposed to build metropolitan living spaces or have facebook. The genes we have, prepared us for the social interactions required for life in a small tribe, not shit like tinder or snapchat or universities or subways
your parents, mostly.
they didn't provide a stable, supportive, healthy environment for you to form a confident personality or develop normal social skills.
They didn't have a large network of friends and acquaintances to socialize you with, especially with other kids around your age.
They didn't teach you useful skills, or get you involved in popular sports from a young age.
They passed down a genetic predisposition to whatever mental illness or autism you have.
They were either too involved in your life or too distant. They were helicopter parents, or parents in absentia.
They didn't make enough money to pass status down to you via cool friend-making things like pools, large houses, fun outings/events.
They didn't recognize the warning signs and get you into some sort of mental health treatment.

All of those minus the autism and mental health one are spot on. That's why I moved to the opposite end of the country and haven't answered my mother's calls in 16 months.

Because you are conscious of it. You only feel the hairs on your head when they are being pulled. If someone tells you genuinely that life is good then you can tell what his mental capacity is.
