Cant think of one off of the top of my head but if you're into shit like that I recommend picking up a copy of "The 2,548 Wittiest Things Anybody Every Said" by Rober Byrne. Just a large book full of great quotes. They're seperated by theme and there is an index by person in the back for easy lookups. On of my favorite things to use when spicing up a paper.

That's why people don't bother having any compassion for the cows killed for their burgers. They closed their heart to not include them.
Also, that's why killers can kill others, because they don't feel connected, understanding, and compassion, or mercy for their victim.

If you are extremely sad about breaking up with someone and wish you could close your heart to the pain, you probably could numb it out with distraction and training yourself to devalue what you "hold dear to your heart". But that would be a terrible idea, as you need to express and feel your emotion to be able to heal eventually.

If you close your heart it's like closing your eyes but the unsightly scene will forever be there waiting for your to open your eyes to see it finally.
If you open your heart or eyes then it may hurt but you have he ability to work with reality and change the setting.
