If so, how long did it take for him/her to break character? Do you think these people are really just trying too hard to impress others?

I tried to be one of these during my goth phase in middle school. It went just as horribly as you would suspect.

Those of us who are not tryhards are mysterious loners for the following reasons:
>attractive
>don't allow people to get to close because we have high standards for ourselves and aren't satisfied with where we are in life
>are introverted and thus don't have time for meaningless interaction, and only need a handful of people in our lives at any given time
>also our interests are largely solo interests
