Pokemon Silver came out in November 1999 and that was in Japan which I guarantee you never played, like most people here will only have played it in late 2000.

As someone who actually had my childhood in the 90's and not born in the 90's like mos people here I know my own childhood better than you, in 2000 I was 13 or something so chances are for the average born in 90's kid they probably don't remember the 90's that much, being only 6 years old at the latest.
