it's all practice man, for the first week or so you cant tell red from blue and the slightest lateral motion of a circle makes your eyes spaz out.
but after that, things become really fun and when you can consistently hit 3note and 4note combos you start to see how fun taiko actually is.
in short, if you're willing to put the time into taiko and accept not as many people play it / will relate to you as on standard, it's well worth it as you don't have to grind as hard to get good.
That's because once you learn a certain note combo, like for example red blue blue red blue, a note combo in quick succession like that, you can apply that to any song afterwards, whereas in classic osu! you can't really apply the skills learned from any one song specifically to another one.

I suppose you should consider what exactly you're looking to improve. A map i had a lot of fun with, that was mostly focused on going fast with little spacing was DJ fresh - gold dust. Another one i had a good time trying to FC was time bomb. I don't know your rank or anything, but if you're in the 800-1200 range, focus on single tapping and reading. If you're 1200-1500, get better at doing triples, 1500-2400 is mostly about jumps, and after that, it's basically all about streaming and jumping both quicker and further
