I live in London, and 2000 AUS dollars is equivalent to 1063 pounds. That is definitely not good living, and only enough to survive.
Also, I have family in Australia, and it is VERY expensive.
So yes, you would think 2000 a month would be a lot per month, but it doesn't go very far.
