Plenty of places have free Wifi now. Rotating between parking lots for internet is completely doable. Sleep at a highway gas station or rest stop in order to shit in the middle of the night. Locate a couple 24 hour diners, and being close to a college campus is a good idea. Also some cars like the Pontiac Vibe come with a standard power outlet.
I was reading about it, and people who lived (or live) in vans won't shut the fuck up about being lonely, and say that's the biggest problem.
That's amazing for me, because I've been homeschooled and friendless since I was 13, and I'm 28 now. I have no concept of loneliness. In fact, ANY time I read about how one of the downsides to something is "loneliness," it bounces right the fuck off me.

Park in Walmart Super Center Parking lots.
You can park over night and no one gives you shit. You can also put up those sun protector tinfoil like things over your windows to keep warm/cool during whichever season. They also provide a ton of privacy.
You can now shit, and 'shower' whenever you need. Every walmart I'll grab those free hand wipes from the front of the store for cleaning up. I'll wipe myself down with them, and if I can I'll wash myself off with body soap/scrub as well and 'sponge bathe' in a stall. They frown upon it but they can't do anything if you're in a stall. If we're by a gym though I just shower at the gym instead. You can get yourself a battery to hook your electronics too, and most walmarts have free wifi.

You can and many people do, especially in California. Weather is good, internet is free at most places, your car/van blends in with all the other cars and vans.
