Since you used UCP camo I'm assuming you mean US military. You won't be shit on harder for being Asian. You're going to be shit on because you're a butterbar. Oh buddy you're gonna get shit on. A lot. If you want to be an officer, the lowest rank officer even a cadet outranks technically the most senior NCO. It won't work that way in practice but in theory that means you have more responsibility than a Sergeant Major. More responsibility means A LOT MORE SHIT.

Only people I've personally had problems with in the military are younger street mentality types. Like I'm ready to knock on the XO's door, Sir, Private Thundercock reports. Then accept my article 15.

Do OCS if you can. I did ROTC and commissioned in (I can try and answer questions if you want). Whether it's worth it depends on you and your situation. What are you majoring in?

i just googled military, but i'm actually in canada.

>>27451820
majoring in accounting, but im not in a target school and im not outstanding enough to be recruited by the top tier accounting firms (which seems to be pretty competitive), which is why im considering military.

>seems more like a ncm thing, which is why im considering officer instead

He was harassed by other officers, you dimwit. Hazing is still big in the military. Enjoy getting flushed in the toilet.
>>
>>27451936
There's definitely plenty you can do with an accounting degree for the military, but it's hard to get into OCS and you also have kind of bottom of the barrel jobs to pick from. There might be something you're interested in, but academy and ROTC fags get first pick. What branch are you looking at?
>>
>>27451936
>i just googled military, but i'm actually in canada.
You're going to get a much different answer for Canada. Very different standard than the U.S. I've had Canadians friends in the past I don't think you'd have a problem but the standards probably are not as high as the U.S.
You do realize you can get U.S. citizenship from military service though right?
>>
>>27451637
I'm in the navy so I'm kinda in the military. It can definitely be worth it for a lot of reasons, I came from a shit town with zero opportunities so I enlisted and got my degree for free and am trying to become an officer from the enlisted side, it's a lot easier to go your route.

Even as an enlisted dude in SoCal I'm pulling in close to 70k with my housing allowance included and half of it isn't taxed. Also passed my GI Bill to my son so his college is already paid for.

No one cares if you're an Asian or a manlet. You're judged on performance alone.
>>
>>27451947
a bunch of NCOs harassing a private is different from NCOs harassing a commissioned officer

>>27451965
im in canada, probably gonna do logistics since that has use after getting out, and it doesnt seem too competitive since its not a flashy job.

>>27452004
one thing im not too sure about is how competitive my application would be. i dont have any extracurricular activities or any awards. only thing going for me is i've got some work experience in various wagecuck jobs. not too interested in US citizenship though.

Canada? Hey same here senpai. Was thinking of maybe becoming a teacher of sorts, I think I would do better in that situation, but I have no way of knowing how to become a military educator, or an officer. Also my sperg ways won't help me as well... Ah nevermind then, probably won't get a sense of purpose there anyways.
also not fit and I'm ruining my eyesight here
>>
>>27452149
>one thing im not too sure about is how competitive my application would be. i dont have any extracurricular activities or any awards. only thing going for me is i've got some work experience in various wagecuck jobs. not too interested in US citizenship though.
Well pal, the U.S. has different standards for whom they'd accept. College credits would probably help your cause more than job experience here. Not too interested means you have some interest, I'm just saying it's a door that isn't locked. I won't say anything bad about Canadia or try to come off as condescending but no other military is going to be as high on the standards as the U.S.A. and there are a lot more places to settle in the U.S. than Canada. It's a big place with a lot of variance. I probably mention standards a lot without giving examples but there is a lot of anti-discrimination stuff. There is a bar of expectations and race will not be a barrier. I've only met one person that felt that it might be and they told me it is because they felt it was because they are Asian. I think they're cool, never seen anyone not get along with them so I don't know if it's a prejudice or if they just have very high expectations and ambition. Some outfits promote slower than others also which is a factor and I wouldn't make a knee jerk reaction about it.

What do you have to do in uni to become an junior officer in the military?
>>
>>27452356
for canada you must have a uni degree to apply for officer jobs
>>
>>27452356
For the US, ROTC in college or OCS after.
>>
odds are you won't get accepted as an officer.
>>
>>27452383
4 year degree?
can it be any degree?
>>
>>27452310
i'll keep that option in mind

>>27452485
4 year degree. some jobs have specific required degrees, the combat jobs take any degree.
>>
What?

Can people in America just put their hands up and say hey I wanna be an officer without any extra merit as a candidate?

Why would they take some random guy who hasn't even finished a degree to be an officer?

Especially one with no specialising in the tech field he wants to work in?
>>
>>27451637
Hey senpai I literally just finished AIT last week. Enlisted Army. Honestly senpai I wouldn't recommend this at all. The people are all retarded. Training is a pain in the ass, like holy fuck you have no idea. It's not that the training itself is hard, it's just incredibly tedious and seemingly pointless most of the times. So much standing around that people were getting knee and ankle injuries. Like standing for 5-9 hours a day. You're going to get punished a lot for shit you didn't have anything to do with. It's going to drive you insane.

Go Navy or Air Force, I'm only like 6 months in and I already wish I'd gone chairforce.

If you have a lot of student debt though I guess join. I just joined because I hit a really far low in my depression and was pretty close to suicide so I decicded "fuck it" and joined.

I would strongly recommend against it though.

Oh yeah and they won't give a shit about you being a manlet or Asian.
>>
>>27452629
You need a bachelors degree to be an officer. You'll probably be treated the same as an E4
>>
>>27452742
Yeah I did my research and decided to do the Air Force instead.

Army sounds like shit.
>Like standing for 5-9 hours a day
I already do that at my shitty job, so it can't be that bad.

It's going to suck balls not being able to look at my porn for like 3 years though. Maybe I'll bust a nut on some tranny escort.

>>
>>27452797

Shiet in my country you need the relevant degree + ace all examinations/testing + then go before a board where they assess you on your potential as a candidate.
>>
>>27452842
Nah man after basic you're allowed to have your phone and laptop. Bring it into the bathroom with you and fap to your heart's content. Air Force is a smart choice. There's going to be a lot of boring shit in it, but a lot better in the long run. Oh you also get your own room at your duty station, so you can get porn. Don't sweat it.
>>
>>27452854

OP -> degree not finished -> majoring in accounting -> wants to go into a trade noncombat role.

hello?
>>
>>27451637
The officer program is difficult at the start but the pay out is amazing. I'm currently an 0-3 in the Navy. As in officer you go to an officer boot camp, not the normal boot camp. This "academy" will have other people with degrees much like you. Going Navy is a lot more money and easier compared to Army or Marines. 3 2/3 years in.

Awesome, thanks.

Can you pick which country you get deployed to? And how long are you usually there for? I mean I don't really care where I go, long as it isn't USA.(want to see other countries)
>>

>>
>>27452921
>Going Navy is a lot more money and easier compared to Army or Marines
the pay scales for different ranks are exactly the same for all branches though
>>
>>27452993

that's not a non-combat trades are electrician, plumber, mechanic, aka a 'trade'.

logistics -> accounting is not a 'trade'.

oh ok once he finishes uni, cool.
>>
>>27452921
i dont know how it is in the US but in canada you're most likely gonna be confined to a tiny ship for months on end if you go navy, and that doesn't really sound appealing
>>
>>27453010
You can list preferences but ultimately they'll send you where they need you. You can rank foreign countries as your top choice and they'll still send you to bumfuck Kentucky if that's where they need you.
>>
>>27452742
Shut the fuck up boot. You've been in for 6 months and don't know anything. Only give advice about joining when you've actually accomplished something, or completed an enlistment.
>>
>>27453088
Figured, oh well.
Long as it has good escorts in the area I guess I'll be fine.

One more question.
I know they give you like $700 for housing. Let's say your rent is only $500. Do you get to keep that $200 and use it for whatever you want?
>>
>>27453010
as >>27453088
said. In basic you get to list 3 domestic and 3 overseas duty stations you want.

They then take that paper and throw it away and send you wherever the fuck you feel like. Sometimes when you reenlist though you can choose.
>>
>>27453162
I heard a ton of people are being sent to Korea, so I have my hopes up.
>>
>>27453140
no they only give you money for housing if you have a family. Navy may be different though, I only know Army. Otherwise you're in single soldier barracks. They're fairly nice desu senpai, like hotel/dorm rooms.
>>
Question. I want to join the chairforce after uni but there is no AFROTC at my small college. Whats the best course of action?
>>
>>27453181
It depends really on your MOS. If you're ADA(air defense), MP, Intel or something to do with computers Korea is pretty damn likely.

I'm going to the 82nd Airborne and they're deploying 500 people to SK, so I may be going there this summer for a year or two. Who knows. I'd fucking love that though, way better than Iraq.
>>
>>27453192
> only give you money for housing if you have a family
wait what the fuck? that can't be right. I clearly remember reading a BAH chart that had separate amounts for No dependents and dependents.

http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/site/faqbah.cfm#Q1
>>
>>27453135
Fuck you guy I'm just trying to give him tips from somebody who's freshly in. Not some fucking SSG who's going to just spout "yeah man haha the army's fuckin dope, all bout dat retirement man *spits chew* "
>>
>>27453270
Idk what to tell you senpai. None of the single guys I'm with have access to BAH. Only the guys with families are getting it.
>>
>>27453270
For Navy typically during your first enlistment you have to stay in barracks or the ship, if you're in Norfolk or SAn Diego the barracks are really nice though and are similar to apartments on base.

Afterwards you can get single housing allowance to stay in town and you keep what you don't spend. Lots of guys get a roommate in a cheap place and make bank
>>
>>27453295
Point is you're just some dumb boot who joined for the wrong reasons and of course you don't like it now, the military sucks for new guys just like any job. You don't know any of the benefits because you haven't even done anything yet.

You joined the military because you were depressed which is a dumb fucking reason to join and now you're in training giving advice before you've even joined your unit or deployed.
