You get born in a middle class family hopefully have enough food and money to get some things you want. After school you have the whole world in front of you but the choice is too great and you know... industrialization removed purpose from being a worker.
Unless you have a really nice hobby or want to continue doing something somebody else stopped there is not really a purpose to live other than just life.
