I thought jesus loved everyone

Jesus would have put his hand on your shoulder and told you he knows that feel

I want to believe but I can't, I wasn't brought up with it. I can't even believe halfheartedly. Half the Christians I know use their holiness guise to excuse their every action, too. Maybe it isn't fair, I hold them to a higher standard than non religious people for believing all that happy shit.

I went to Church in Latin in an old dark cathedral adorned with skulls today. It was the first time since childhood I went to mass and the first time I went there.

The shadowy statues of obscure saints and grim tomb-mosaics featuring skeletons, broken hourglasses and other over-the-top gothic grimdark memes created an atmosphere of intense spiritual presence that I cannot describe here.

The chair I sat on was on a tomb of some un-known knight. He must have been some sort of alchemist judging from the artwork.

10/10 would go again. Just wish I had some traditionalistbros to go with, since it felt a little lonely.

chads are knights who find it easy to be righteous because they are winning at life.
normies are peasants.
robots are monks, shunned by the base revolting peasantry, and devoted to a life of simplicity and contemplation.

I don't believe in anything.
I just accept truth.

The tao that can be told
is not the eternal Tao
The name that can be named
is not the eternal Name.

The unnamable is the eternally real.
Naming is the origin
of all particular things.

Free from desire, you realize the mystery.
Caught in desire, you see only the manifestations.

Yet mystery and manifestations
arise from the same source.
This source is called darkness.

Darkness within darkness.
The gateway to all understanding.
>>
Religion is too deep for me, I know they try and make it easy to understand when you're a kid but really as you get older it becomes harder to understand and fathom it, I'm just a dumb robot who spends my day jacking off to shemale porn.
I guess this is the life of a degenerate non-believer.
>>
>>27436498

When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.

Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.

Therefore the Master
acts without doing anything
and teaches without saying anything.
Things arise and she lets them come;
things disappear and she lets them go.
She has but doesn't possess,
acts but doesn't expect.
When her work is done, she forgets it.
That is why it lasts forever.
>>
>>27436534

If you overesteem great men,
people become powerless.
If you overvalue possessions,
people begin to steal.

The Master leads
by emptying people's minds
and filling their cores,
by weakening their ambition
and toughening their resolve.
He helps people lose everything
they know, everything they desire,
and creates confusion
in those who think that they know.

Practice not-doing,
and everything will fall into place.
>>
>>27436543

The Tao is like a well:
used but never used up.
It is like the eternal void:
filled with infinite possibilities.

It is hidden but always present.
I don't know who gave birth to it.
It is older than God.

The Tao doesn't take sides;
it gives birth to both good and evil.
The Master doesn't take sides;
she welcomes both saints and sinners.

The Tao is like a bellows:
it is empty yet infinitely capable.
The more you use it, the more it produces;
the more you talk of it, the less you understand.

Hold on to the center.
>>
>>27436508
desu christianity is not that hard its just they argue about all this other stuff that isnt even that big of a deal so you have all these sects.
just

>love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
>love your neighbour as yourself
>>
>>27436557

The Tao is called the Great Mother:
empty yet inexhaustible,
it gives birth to infinite worlds.

It is always present within you.
You can use it any way you want.

The Tao is infinite, eternal.
Why is it eternal?
It was never born;
thus it can never die.
Why is it infinite?
It has no desires for itself;
thus it is present for all beings.

The Master stays behind;
that is why she is ahead.
She is detached from all things;
that is why she is one with them.
Because she has let go of herself,
she is perfectly fulfilled.
>>
>>27436568

The supreme good is like water,
which nourishes all things without trying to.
It is content with the low places that people disdain.
Thus it is like the Tao.

In dwelling, live close to the ground.
In thinking, keep to the simple.
In conflict, be fair and generous.
In governing, don't try to control.
In work, do what you enjoy.
In family life, be completely present.

When you are content to be simply yourself
and don't compare or compete,
everybody will respect you.
>>
>>27436508
>becomes harder to understand and fathom it,
This.
How am I to take on faith alone that there is something that has existed for an INFINITE time prior to humans and cares if I call someone a cunt or jack to porn?
>>
>>27436585

Fill your bowl to the brim
and it will spill.
Keep sharpening your knife
and it will blunt.
Chase after money and security
and your heart will never unclench.
Care about people's approval
and you will be their prisoner.

Do your work, then step back.
The only path to serenity.

Can you coax your mind from its wandering
and keep to the original oneness?
Can you let your body become
supple as a newborn child's?
Can you cleanse your inner vision
until you see nothing but the light?
Can you love people and lead them
without imposing your will?
Can you deal with the most vital matters
by letting events take their course?
Can you step back from you own mind
and thus understand all things?

Giving birth and nourishing,
having without possessing,
acting with no expectations,
leading and not trying to control:
this is the supreme virtue.

We join spokes together in a wheel,
but it is the center hole
that makes the wagon move.

We shape clay into a pot,
but it is the emptiness inside
that holds whatever we want.

We hammer wood for a house,
but it is the inner space
that makes it livable.

We work with being,
but non-being is what we use.

Colors blind the eye.
Sounds deafen the ear.
Flavors numb the taste.
Thoughts weaken the mind.
Desires wither the heart.

The Master observes the world
but trusts his inner vision.
He allows things to come and go.
His heart is open as the sky.

Success is as dangerous as failure.
Hope is as hollow as fear.

What does it mean that success is a dangerous as failure?
Whether you go up the ladder or down it,
you position is shaky.
When you stand with your two feet on the ground,
you will always keep your balance.

What does it mean that hope is as hollow as fear?
Hope and fear are both phantoms
that arise from thinking of the self.
When we don't see the self as self,
what do we have to fear?

See the world as your self.
Have faith in the way things are.
Love the world as your self;
then you can care for all things.

>>27436354
I never really get a chance to ask a Christian a serious question as it's always in the midst of some atheist vs religion argument.

So what I want to know is :

To what extent do you believe in Jesus and the things he supposedly did? Do you take a literal meaning for everything written about him; the miracles, the resurrection, the crusifiction etc. Or, do you think it's more likely that the character of Jesus is based off of a teacher/preacher of judaism combined with stories and fables that were being written around the same time; a Jesus figure nonetheless, but not literally the son of God.
>>
>>27437120
Hahaha ok.
I will just say that church is not gonna want people to off themselves because of greed.
The death can't give you money.
>>
>>27437146
>To what extent do you believe in Jesus and the things he supposedly did?
Literal
Unless he made it clear he was talking in a parable ofc (which he did when he was)
>>
>>27437148
If it was just about money historically speaking in times of persecution Christians would have been told to lie about their faith to keep them alive to get more money from them
They didn't
>>
>>27437168
>Unless he made it clear he was talking in a parable

But I'm talking about things that other people wrote about this supposed Messiah, aka the Bible. All of the claims about miracles and resurrection come from the Bible, which Jesus himself had no involvement in writing obviously; it was written a while after he died by all sorts of people, scribes, apostles etc. So what do you mean by 'unless he made it clear', because he himself didn't make anything clear in the Bible

>>
>>27437224

>>
>>27437206
Suicide was considered a sin then too anon
>>
>>27437252
Then why some scriptures talk about resurrection? fuck, even Jesus himself resurrected.
But whatever. I am sure if God can forgive all sins, He can easily give you another chance if you off yourself. I mean, He loves us unconditionally, doesn't He, so much He sent His son to die on the cross.
>>
>>27437168
so do you believe in the literal truth of the resurrection story?

Keep in mind that Matthew 27:51-53 literally says that earthquakes shook the ground and bodies rose from the ground to speak with the living

>And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they entered the holy city and appeared to many
>>
>>27437269
>Then why some scriptures talk about resurrection?
I'm not sure how that relates to this
>>
>>27437301
Church just makes a sin whatever they wish. Nobody knows the actual truth.
If you are a believer, the only way is to ask directly from the source. Personally, I just asked to be trained by Him. Nobody can teach me, except someone perfect, so that was my only choice. He always listens.
>>
>>27437332
Yes, but what does scripture talking about resurrection have to do with suicide being a sin?
>>
Man has been conjuring up gods for thousands of years, and for thousands of years, the followers of these gods gradually petered out. Those Gods go down in history as myths, or false prophets

Give me one good reason why you, now in 2016 are the exception to history. In 2000 years from now, will the history books read 'They finally got it right with the judiah christian god, and it endured forever!'
>>
>>27437347
That if you resurrect, then suicide wouldn't be that bad.
You would always get another chance.
After all, the only one that is perfect is Him.
That's what I believe in personally. You can believe in what you want.
I don't go forcing my shit on people.
>>
>>27437353
fucking hell anon what have you done
I'm literally doubting my faith right now because of this post
>>
>>27437609
Is that really the first time you've considered that?

How do you know Jesus is the true source of salvation and that Hinduism, for example, is bullshit?

Have you read the Bhagavad Gita, if so what did you find in it that made you conclude it was bullshit?
>>
>>27437609
I sincerely hope you're joking
Christianity never once claims that people didn't worship false gods
It happens quite often in the bible in fact
Half of the old testament is the Jews worshiping false gods and getting punished for it
>>
>>27437628
I just never really thought about the fact that one day, 2016 will be ancient history, and considering how every single time before in history religions have faded away, theres no reason to think christianity won't. It's easy to think the period of time in which you live is the sort of final or default state of the world, when really it will succumb to the same fate as all periods in history have; that is it will look ancient someday
>>
>>27437654
Right. But so does the Quran. And pretty much every other holy book out there

Have you considered those possibilities?
>>
>>27437691
>Have you considered those possibilities?
Yes
>>
>>27437654
But how is the Judiah Christian God any different? What is unique to him that makes him not a false god

At one stage these supposed 'false gods' were followed and worshipped with the same faith and sincerity as we worship Yahweh today
>>
>>27437231
?

"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the Earth."
>>
>>27437699
>But how is the Judiah Christian God any different?
For starters he isn't a physical being living in the material world
>What is unique to him that makes him not a false god
The only thing that would make him not a false god is existing
>At one stage these supposed 'false gods' were followed and worshipped with the same faith and sincerity as we worship Yahweh today
Yes
Humans have an innate desire to worship God, and those in ignorance will try and make substitutes for Him

damn, im really out of touch. does God not accept shitbags or what? I wanted to reconcile since I haven't in years, for the betterment of myself. I may not be religious but I grew up in the environment, and it has certainly shaped me in a positive way.

Question, anons: Has anyone confessed sins of self pity/harm/anything negative against yourself before? or perhaps something similar? I feel like it will reconnect me with faith and cleanse me of a lot of morbid and pessimistic thoughts.

Not the guy you were replying to and you're probably not here still but anyways.

I believe all religions are related. They all share their core principles and are pretty similar except in details. I believe we all worship the same God but that he has appeared in different shapes to different people or that people have interpreted him differently. Even Hinduism with their many Gods can be seen as a monotheistic religion and many hindus do. When you consider this you see that it is possible that all the gods are the same one God.

All those thousands of organised religions are referring to the same "God", they are just individual bastardisations for the sake of manipulation, greed and power.

None of us can perceive or understand the force of the universe or what created it, but it's echoes can be felt when you open your mind and embrace spirituality.

I used to be a self obsessed narcisttic atheist when I was a teenager, thought I knew everything and religion was bullshit, but after a couple of experiences my views changed and I see I was a pathetic little boy then , I still don't know the truth and in this life probably never will, but I do believe in the one ness and unity of the universe, and forces greater than we can conceive are acting upon it....

Don't take DMT kids.

Basiaclly yes and if I had to choose a position probably pantheist.
Spirituality can be practised imo for whatever works for you, if some kind of God were to be there I can't see how humans could understand it and then set guidelines for us all to adhere to, when we know we have such little comprehension. Preachers strike me the same as manipulators and sales people do.

All I know is since starting to have faith, even though it's not based around theism I've found my self happier, less inclined to misuse substances, much less self loathing and less depressed. I pray sometimes, and generally try to be "good person". Idk but it helped me shake my robot ways
>>
