Can people who went to high school around the years 2000-2006 describe and give examples of what that experience was like. Those years in history were alot different from what we have today and those social life and experiences were different.

Im feeling pretty nostalgic and remember great memories from those times even though i was only just a kid.

What was your late nights staying up like?
What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
What did you browse on the internet?
What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
What movies blew you away?
Did you meet any sweet girls? What did you dress like?
What was school like?

Comment whatever youd like to share

Everything about your post was fucking terrible
You probably felt it was good and cool while you were typing it, but it wasn't
It really wasn't
>>
Heres my experience

Browsing hentai. New grounds. Aol chat. Limewire.

Doom. Black hawk down. Fast and furious.

Halo. Halo 2. Gotcha force. Kingdom hearts final fantasy. Bladurs gate. Beyblades.

Eminem. Nu-metal.

Easy as fuck bitches to talk to.

Sneaking out at night vandalizing.

I dressed like a retard because i had rlly bad ocd.

I always got in trouble at school
>>

Attended high school from 2005 - 2010 (grade 8-12). I was popular, though I wasn't a jock or a 'cool kid' - I was mostly academic, though I was funny and the school was fairly small and most students were studious. It was a Catholic school in Canada.

I got into trouble here and there ("""cyber-bullying""" pioneer reporting in) but was well-liked by staff so nothing really happened to me.

Ask me whatever you like.

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Not very different from now - just different sites and games and people. In the summers I would stay up until sunrise just playing games or chatting online with friends or reading books and things like that.
>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
Played vidya, made music, went for food.
>What did you browse on the internet?
4chan, actually. Been here since 2005. I also used to be a member of Ultimate-Guitar and a few other very small music, guitar, and videogame related communities. The internet was full of these smaller, tight knit communities back then (and even moreso in the years before then). Nowadays people are more congregated in a few major sites like Reddit and Facebook. The internet has almost 'urbanized' before my eyes.
>What online games did you play? Halo?
Wow? Ffxi?
Runescape is the fondest memory for me. I broke up with my first gf to play more Runescape back in grade 8.

I did play Halo online with friends in later years. I played a little bit of WoW but very few others in my school did and they were the ultra nerds that I didn't really know very well.
>What movies blew you away?
Never been very into film, but I unironically loved Avatar. Classmates hated it, but I just liked the visuals.
>Did you meet any sweet girls? What did you dress like?
For sure. I had a few short-lived "girlfriends" for like 1-2 months, and one girl that I began dating in grade 11 and broke up with after ~4 years together.
>What was school like?
Probably the same as now.
>>

Thats pretty interesting. I played runescape alot too. Seems like time flies by far too fast nowadays comaped too back then
>>
>>27435248

I think people are just too interconnected for their own good these days. Everyone is constantly accessible (intentionally) via their smartphone. People forget to turn on Airplane mode once in a while and relax by themselves in a way where nobody can get a hold of you. I do it weekly and it makes me a better, happier person.

I feel that growing up during the years that I did was especially weird because I was part of the years experiencing most of the modern world for the first time WHILE in high school. I saw the rise of laptops and smartphones right in front of me. When we all signed up for various social media networks over the years, we had nobody to look to in order to see how/how not to present ourselves on the internet (other than common sense).

We were pioneers in one sense but we were more like guinea pigs, really.

There's a lot more corporate and organizational influence on the internet these days as well, it seems. Probably a side effect of the ''urbanization'' I mentioned.
>>
I dropped out when I was 15 because I got bullied too much so I stayed home and played Final Fantasy and Spyro.

Ausfag here, attended highschool from 2000-2004
>What was your late nights staying up like?
I didn't really stay up late on school nights. There were the occasional teen parties that wound up around midnight. Like, 2 a year.

>What did you and your friends do in your free time?
Play video games, chat on MSN Messenger. Ride our bikes around.

>What did you browse on the internet?
Shit I dunno. I spent a lot of time on ezboard forums. Planet GameCube, ZRPG etc. Homestar Runner was pretty cool. I remember some dumb Badgers Badgers Badgers video going viral.

>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow?
Internet sucked for gaming then. I very rarely played an online game in my highschool years and even then just the odd bullshit of Runescape. Never got into it though. I had Xbox owning friends who would have Xbox Lam parties where thered play Halo 4v4 or even 8v8 across multiple TVs (Blood Gulch only) a few guys played Diablo 2

>What movies blew you away?
The LOTR films came out those years and completely rewrote what a hollywood blockbuster could be. Incredible effects, so long, huge budget. Honestly I've never been much of a movie guy though. I really like Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban, but the books were better. Lining up for Harry Potter book releases was a real thing people did.

>Did you meet any sweet girls?
I guess there were some cool girls. Being in a 4 year relationship at the moment kinda erases any memories I had of them though.

>What did you dress like?
I can't recall, probably like a faggot. Pants were baggy. Shoes were oversized. Large surf brand logos died out during the decade.

>What was school like?
Shit. Can't imagine that has changed much. We had "computer class" in 2000. That was pretty lol.
>>
>>27435054
I started high school in 2003 at a relatively small private religious school in Australia.

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Vidya, adult swim, reading books, thinking up reasons to push my bed time back

>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
Skateboarding, surfing, graffiti, homemade explosives, making stupid shit like potato cannons, exploring

>What did you browse on the internet?
I think I started browsing 4chan around 04.. other than that some Diablo 2 stuff, wow forums, youtube a bit later.

>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
WoW and Diablo 2. Both of those games in their golden ages were fucking fantastic. I had so much fun, learnt so much about people, and met so many cool dudes. If I had my time over again I wouldn't change anything regarding the huge amount of time I spent playing games.

>What movies blew you away?
I wasn't into movies so much. A couple of surfing films blew my fucking mind.

>Did you meet any sweet girls? What did you dress like?
Girls are icky. A few girls at school liked me but I was too busy having fun to care about that.
My dress was jeans or shorts and plain tees.

>What was school like?
School was boring. I aced everything with no effort and as it was a small school they didn't have the resources to put together a proper advanced curriculum for the smart kids. My class mates were okay I guess. I wasn't great pals with any of them though. My friends weren't from my school.

I went 04-08.

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Mostly playing WoW with friends. WoW consumed so much time that it almost defines my teenage years. Luckily some people I knew from school also played and we all played together.
>What did you and your friends do in your free time?
Lots of online games. I remember watching the Tom Green show together. We played paintball. Most of my friends did not start drinking until late senior year. After that we would meet up to drink on weekends. Our parties were total sausagefests and the goal was to get drunk.
>What did you browse on the internet?
4chan, WoW forums. reddit was around I think but not as popular as now. facebook was around but didn't blow up until my junior or senior year.
>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
WoW, Halo 2, CS, WC3. There were others but those were the big ones.
>What movies blew you away?
The Matrix sequels, LOTR.
>Did you meet any sweet girls?
No. At least not any that liked me. If they did, I was too socially oblivious to notice.
>What did you dress like?
I dressed like a wigger. Basketball shorts or sweatpants, with a hoodie, and Nike basketball shoes. I wore a beanie most of the time. I didn't really care how I looked, I just found athletic clothes the most comfortable, so I wore them everywhere (like an idiot.)
>What was school like?
Caught a bus at 6:30AM, classes started at 8AM. Classes were easy and I did not have to try hard to get A's and B's.

Unlike nowadays not many teenagers had a smartphone and texting was only starting to become popular. I distinctly remember my friend bringing an iPhone to class my senior year. He showed us Wikipedia and we were all kind of amazed. Even the teacher who usually told us to put phones away stopped class to take a look at it.

I have mixed memories of high school. I hated waking up early, didn't like most of the people. On the other hand I actually had friends and the early-mid 2000s "culture" seemed... better than now.
>>
I graduated high school in '06. I also wasn't a robot back then.

Back then I actually had friends and went out and did things, not anymore. Nowadays I stay up late every night dicking around online. Back then I read books and watched tv more, and went to sleep at a reasonable hour. My friends and I would watch movies, play old video games on n64/dreamcast/xbox (only one of us had a ps2 so we never did much with it). Goldeneye, zelda, mario, halo, the typical popular stuff of the time. I spent many hours with half life 1 and its plethora of mods. We played sports casually, paintball, made asses of ourselves around town, etc.

Time spent online was either some chat service like aol or msn, downloading music on kazaa/limewire/napster/whatever, or at smaller forums. I went to several forums with like ~15 active posters each, it was all about the smaller, more personal community back then. Unlike now with 4chan and reddit and the like, everything is anonymous, fleeting, and massively populated. Say something stupid now and nobody gives a shit, back then you'd lose the respect of the community and lose friends.

Cell phones were fairly uncommon at school, but were starting to become normal. iPods were just released and were hot shit. I held onto my minidiscs for longer than I care to admit.

As for my group of friends, they all had girls but I didn't. I was the ugly one of the group, they put up with me because I was funny I guess, who knows.

Seconday school just finishing primary school. UK

>What was your late nights staying up like?

I used to stay up chatting to people on msn. Or I watched films, back when I had the capacity to sit and watch a movie from start to finish.

>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?

In the early 2000s I was outgoing. I hanged with friends near the shopping centre, played pool, went around my neighbours house. Stuff like that.

>What did you browse on the internet?

Gang websites. Sounds strange, but I remember a lot of West Coast American street gangs put up websites. They were quite funny when I think about it. A lot of weird forums as well.

>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?

Didn't really play online games, I knew people who played runescape though. I played GTA mostly back then.

>What movies blew you away?

Training day, 25th Hour, Dead Man's Shoes...probably more I can't remember.

>Did you meet any sweet girls? What did you dress like?

Yeah I knew nice girls. Not too different to how I dress now...jeans, jumpers...very casual, very plain. I did wear caps briefly.

high school from 2002 - 2005
umm lots of weed and movies, eventually drinking.
porn in limewire. the internet before facebook was fucking amazing. i never got into hi5 or myspace or any shit like that. i remember napster, it was fantastic, but you could only download i song at a time. lots of messenger.

i wasnt really into online gaming. more like going to people's houses and play halo.

i remember watching reservoir dogs like 50 times. dazed and confused. fear and loathing in las vegas. natural born killers. trainspotting. edgy shit mostly.

i had a girlfriend all through high school. lots of different types of sex, it was good.

school was alright. i had lots of promise in high school that went away when i started and struggled with university.

life was fun. from what i hear i think the teenage experience hasnt change much
>>
>What was your late nights staying up like?
Nothing special. Either hung out with my cousin or by myself and watched adult swim or play my GameCube.

>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
Play video games.

What did you browse on the internet?
Porn, Super Smash Bros. Melee reading material, emulators, Wikipedia (for school).

What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
None. I had dial-up.

>What movies blew you away?
Was never into movies but I believe Superbad and Borat were popular.

>Did you meet any sweet girls?
Sweet, no. I had a crush on this petite Portuguese girl.

>What did you dress like?
Like shit. I had no sense of fashion back then.

>What was school like?
Boring. I was the quiet kid in the popular clique so I didn't get bullied or anything like that, quite the opposite.

28 year old here, I went to high school between 1998-2003.

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Very easy to do but once tiredness hit you, you would feel yourself constantly dozing off and waking up, dozing off and waking up, its was so weird. These days I can be tired for hours without dozing off and if I do doze off, I'll stay sleeping.
>What did you and your friends do in your free time?
Play video games at a LAN gaming center, PC gaming was in its golden era back then with the likes of Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Red Alert 2, Operation Flashpoint, Warcraft 3 and Max Payne.
Online gaming for consoles didn't exist so if you wanted real multiplayer action you'd play online PC games or go to a LAN gaming center and play some games with people in the same room as you, that was pretty cool actually hearing the guy you just killed cry about it.
However console gaming was still pretty cool with the likes of Final Fantasy VIII, IX and X. Not to mention the WWE Smackdown! games.
>What did you browse on the internet?
Anything related to my video games I was playing really and of course, lots of hentai and shemale porn. I actually preferred Brazillian shemale porn back then, I liked the big asses and man jaws. In terms of hentai I was mainly looking at Final Fantasy, DBZ hentai and of course Bondage Fairies was cool.
>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
Just Runescape. WoW come out when I finished high school and it didn't run very well on my PC, it was around this time I stopped playing PC games.
>What movies blew you away?
The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings.
>Did you meet any sweet girls?
Yeah but theyd didn't notice me.
>What did you dress like?
I used to wear a lot of baggy skater jeans, band hoodies and sometimes dressed in all black, including a leather jacket.
>What was school like?
It was ok really, I enjoyed it even though I complained about it, I was actually social, I've been in a decline ever since in terms of social skills.

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Usually listening to music on a cheap ass radio/cd player and playing a console smoking cigarettes, sometimes I'd hang out with friends and do that stuff, maybe talk on the phone with a girl, maybe watching cable television if my mom could afford it and getting spread out on the couch. Wait till parents were asleep maybe jerk it to softcore porn.
>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
Fight. Backyard wrestling. Ride bikes, roller blade, skate board, fishing once in a while, listen to music, video games, tell jokes, meet girls. sometimes i'd play guitar not really well everyone else i knew played a lot better i just never got the hang of playing just made up my own stuff; guess i did that on my own too sometimes.

>What did you browse on the internet?
Porn, holy fuck did it take forever for a picture to load. Video? Forget it. Quicktime player sucked and wouldn't load shit like 75% of the time. Newgrounds watch some flash toons like the quality went up a fucking ton holy fucking shit like stickman drawings were popular as fuck; a lot of toons were just kind of cartoonish blobish drawings like once one or two videos started to pop up with pretty good quality stuff just started to get better overall, video game hints, played some MMO's like ultima. chatrooms - damn was i ever a stupid fucker but it was just banter or whatever, met a lot of girls on there. looked up a lot of gore and just weird shit basically like what you'd find on /b/, use to like dead baby jokes looked up a lot of those.
>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
I don't even remember I know a lot of GTA all of them pretty much but san andreas was fucking mind blowing, ocarina of time, I use to rent a lot of games from blockbuster or what was that other store chain that disappeared first.

I forgot to mention the GTA games when talking about the good console games in this post actually, >>27435782
GTA3 come out in 2000 if I remember correctly, one of the earlier games on the PS2. Maybe even 1999, I can't remember exactly but I do know that I didn't have the PS2 and GTA3 to begin with, my friends family had more money than mine so he had it and I remember playing GTA3 at his house whenever I stayed the night there, which was every other weekend I think.
Maybe every weekend lol. His house was so comfy, I actually miss it :(
Anyways, GTA3, Vice City all came out when I was in high school, I think San Andreas was later, I had finished school I think.

>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
bf1942, cs

>What movies blew you away?
lord of the rings was ok I guess, most movies were disappointments

>Did you meet any sweet girls?
some girls were real qts but I was too socially ostracized to even talk to them

>What did you dress like?
casual nerd clothing

>What was school like?
the teachers were apathetic, my mother died, I had undiagnosed ADHD-PI, my grades dropped from As and Bs to Es and Fs, due to social alienation I became deluded and withdrawn, I was never offered any counseling or anything, I ended up missing exams because I was so out of it

I was 8. All I remember was that my mum was watching the news all day and crying. My dad was in the states at the time and he called home shocked and upset as well. I was pretty confused, as a kid I kind of just saw the news as either good or bad. I didn't really comprehend the significance of it at the time. But as it stayed on the news for months I gradually realised how fucking serious it was

>>Did you meet any sweet girls?
Yeah a few, I kind of had fucked up self esteem so I'd avoid people I thought were normies for their own sake. Like I'd fuck around and joke with them or whatever but usually if I thought they were a decent person I'd mostly just try to avoid them so I didn't bring them down.
>>What did you dress like?
Early 2000's a total dweeb just like generic shit you'd find at kmart bargain shit. Usually blue jeans and a t shirt, pants got more baggy as I got older some like super fucking silly some in between. Started wearing hoodies all the time usually with the hood up. Usually had a weird hair cut, early 2000 I'd have kind of a high and tight not quite but I'd wear it spiked up, after a while I started to cut my own hair so I'd either have like a bowl cut, grow it out really long, shave it all, shave everything but the bangs like a devil lock, or a mohawk.
>>What was school like?
it was a fuckin low security prison. show up, get detention, go to class
>okay everyone find a partner
fuckin YAY
I passed all the tests or whatever but never really did any homework so I'd end up failing most classes.
Sometimes I'd sit around other people at lunch few people I knew would banter a bit I was kind of a prick would sit alone or end up in extra lunch time detention. Would end up punching my locker a lot. would have a group of people try to talk shit to me, fights usually got broke up fast and they'd run away if they couldn't out number me or apologize then go back to being dicks when in a group. Couldn't afford to join a league and be on a sports team so I'd play with friends after school sometimes but that stunted my interest in sports a lot not being able to participate. Ended up switching schools alot then droppedout

Yeah I still got a copy of the original GTA for Playstation. Would rent the second one once in a while it was a futuristic one. Saw when the london one came out but it looked like more of the same so I skipped that one.
3 was fucking amazing I played that a lot up till San Andreas came out even though I'd beaten it before, would play it with one of my cousins sometimes when he was around but he moved out of state a few times. He was a bit older than me so I looked up to him a lot, kinda copied him a bit like quite a bit.
>>
2000 - 2005 was a cultural black hole.
Video games began to get their shit together but otherwise Harry Potter is the only cultural relic to emerge from that era of any worth.
Music was terrible; the rise of emo and the manufactured sanitising of hip hop from political expression to objectification of women.
Fashion: disgraceful. Comically large shoes and pants, everything else was bland as fuck.
Politics. George W Bush always RE-E-FUCKING-LECTED. Which is about all you need to know. The west basically decided that they needed to create a fictitious enemy (Islamic terrorism) to replace Communism.
Movies; all shit. Lord of the Rings won 11 oscars one year because there was literally no competition.
Internet: Was actually worse during this time, as the mega old media conglomerates bought out all the sites in the late 90s and there was no social media to actually generate genuine fosterment of niche interests.

In the 2020s when people begin having retro 00s themed parties, they will have nothing but emo to dress as.
>>
>>27436249
You're forgetting the skater fashion of 00's, kind of where the hipsters took the flannel from, and you forgot American Idol was in its golden era, Lost started, not as many people had beards and anime started to get mainstream.
>>
>What was your late nights staying up like?
Spending time on the Internet mostly. Near the end of high school I'd hang out with a few (male) friends sometimes but that's it.

>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
Internet, vidya, masturbating and listening to music. (I wouldn't masturbate with friends of course, you get it)

>What did you browse on the internet?
Forums, shit I can't remember, vidya tips. The internet was really different back then. As another anon described it, full of small & tight knit communities. Shit was great but there was also A HELL LOT more bullshit (fake tips, people faking their lives and shit) than today.

>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
I wasn't really into online games. Star Trek Voyage Elite Force multiplayer with friends was the shit to me.

>What movies blew you away?
LOTR obviously, and unironically the Star Wars 1/2/3 movies as well.
I really liked Matrix and HP too.

>Did you meet any sweet girls?
:(

>What did you dress like?
Like a faggot, like everyone else. Large hoodies, baggy pants, oversized shoes, skate brands.

>What was school like?
A lot of fun. Listening to Linkin Park and Tony Hawk's Pro Sakter soundtrack was the shit, I really think teenagers back then were cooler and much more simple than they are today (it's all about being popular, swag, edm and shit). I can't really recall but I think sex wasn't that much of a big thing for us back then - I mean, of course it was but our lives wouldn't be centered around it. Nowadays the teens talk about sex, porn movies and bubble butts all day long, watching twerk videos on YT and such.
Apart from this, girls wouldn't talk to me because I was shy around me. Same for my friends, we were in the same boat. I think boys and girls didn't talk to each other that much in fact back then (well they actually did but less than today I think but I'm not sure.)

Graduated in 08, so not far off

I'm from Australia

What was your late nights staying up like?WoW, Lanning counter-strike or drinking games with mortal kombat/tekken (Loser takes a shot), or Raves

What did you and your friends do in your free time? Rode BMX, tagged shit, generally caused a ruckus

What did you browse on the internet? Porn, Games, Myspace/Early facebook? I think

What online games did you play?
Mostly Counterstrike and WoW

What movies blew you away? Can't remember desu

Did you meet any sweet girls? Yeah met quite a few, most weren't from school though. Had a qt crush on this cute alt/goth chick that took me to my first rave. She was the reasoned i turned into a graffing BMX'ing drug abusing raving loser in my youth.

What did you dress like? Punk/Rock kid mostly, Black jeans, studded belts, wrist bands, band tees, angled snapbacks.

What was school like?
Pretty shitty. I was a really good student but i literally learned absolutely nothing in my time there. Also bit of a loner i only had about 3 friends in school (one of them being qt alt/goth/raver girl)

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Didnt stay up late then. Stayed up until midnight watching mtv. Jackass viva la bam etc.
>What did you and your frienda do in your free time?
Hang out with others outside, partied. Tuned mopeds.
>What did you browse on the internet?
Forums, social media (yes it existed back then)
>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
didnt play any games really
>What movies blew you away?
cant remember
>Did you meet any sweet girls? What did you dress like?
yes tons, my friends were always good with socializing. I wore jeans and a hoodie/slim jackets
>What was school like?
In retrospect, it was fantastic. A fat kid that used to eat chips while leaning into his locker hanged himself

What 2000-2005 wasn't that bad fuckin music wasn't bad like file sharing was just starting to take off if you were poor and couldn't afford to go buy a new cd all the time stealing that shit was excellent, fuckin being able to burn your own CD was tits since tapes were disappearing. Portable CD players were getting pretty good like around that time I could walk around with one without it skipping. But still with music downloads there was way more access to music that's probably the biggest time frame of genres and music people never would of heard about getting pushed.
Movies and fashion, like okay now that I thought about it one movie around that time that blew my mind was Strangeland from Dee Snider might of been closer to the 90's but like the fashion in that was major fucking fringe back then, now it's practically normal for people to look like captain howdy. the internet helped spread that not just the concept but purchasing shit you couldn't find in stores, if you live in a small town I know I would of stuck out like a sore thumb back in those days and I was somewhat mild about my appearance but was a total freak compared to most everyone else since I was into like metal and punk and stuff.
Fuckin tattoo's up to the 2000's only people I knew that had tats were like sailors, bikers, and cons. It was just starting to become a huge fad like tanning salons now everyone and their granny has a tat some people just never stopped getting them like back then someone covered in tats would be considered a freak like the lizardman on the XFiles. Fuck me they started the xfiles again I been wanting to watch that.

Fucking crying about Bush I honestly think people that bitch about Bush fell for all the fucking anti-American propaganda that people constantly spouted. Probably the same people that denounced people that were coming back from 'nam.

>What was your late nights staying up like?
Lots of reading and adult swim. Found out about NGE and later Paranoia Agent.
>What did you and your friends do in your free time?
Lots of undeveloped/developing islands nearby, so burning things we shouldn't at firepits, using construction sites as airsoft matches, and lots of B&N/mallrat hanging
>What did you browse on the internet?
I had a fucking livejournal. Also the Best Page in the Universe, SomethingAwful, RealUltimatePower, and Newgrounds
>What online games did you play? Halo? Wow? Ffxi?
Unreal and NWN-I played a lot more single player. Freespace, Vice City, etc.
>What movies blew you away?
Matrix was '99. Lord of the Rings, Donnie Darko, Children of Men is pushing it but from the end of that frame. Minority Report got me reading PKD.
>Did you meet any sweet girls? What did you dress like?
Two of them, both crazy in their own beautiful ways. My dress and attitude were described as 'unabomber chic'-baggy vietnam m65 and jeans or cargo pants(lol cargo pants)
>What was school like?
Very cliquey but awesome. My group of friends took over a study room and would draw cartoons about the class on the whiteboard, play diplomacy games, sit in the dark and listened to everything from Radiohead to Orgy given who made it first to the stereo. We'd also try to play our music during school assembly and would occasionally edge it up with a political message. 9/11 was still fresh in everyone's mind but the economy was still booming at the beginning of the 2000s-it was an odd atmosphere.

>tfw one of your friends got a cd burner and tolerable internet speeds
>tfw you got a cd burner and tolerable internet speeds
>tfw the letter came from the internet provider and your parents got it first

I forgot all about how big stealing music was. I had one of those old cd player-tape player converter things for the shitty old car I drove.

Economy tanked on Bush's watch, not that it was his fault. >$4.00/gallon gasoline really doesn't give anyone fond memories of that time.

I was in high school from 2001 to 2006.
I spent my time playing a lot of free Korean games because I was poor and my PC sucked. Mu Online, Gunbound, and Maple Story. My friend gave me a Half Life CD key so I played a lot of TFC as well.

My friends and I all had Xbox, and one friend softmodded everyone else's with my copy of Mechassault. We played a lot of Halo 1 through LAN or over tunneling software like XBC or Kai. It's completely retarded how much we played that one game. We also played a lot of emulated games off the Xbox, especially Metal Slug, and watched anime with XBMC. Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Hellsing, Berserk, Gungrave and FMA. Also watched a lot of CKY and Jackass.

Lord of the Rings was big, as a lot of people said. Sin City is one I remember really liking.

I didn't meet any girls. I just hung out with my core group if friends, never went to parties or anything. I would fuck around a lot in school. We had computer class where we learned Photoshop and 3ds Max, and I just spent my time reading webcomics instead of working. Penny Arcade, Megatokyo (ugh) and Machall. I'm surprised I passed highschool, I don't remember doing much.

I wore plain T-shirts and jeans, and of course big skate shoes. I didn't like logos. Fashion was pretty generic. Hoodies and t shirts and jeans. There were a few wangsta kids. The one token fat autist with cargo pants, a flaming shirt, and fingerless gloves. Also a bunch of kids that were in between punk and goth and watched a lot of Invader Zim.

That's about it.
