One of the things that made 4chan a worthwhile place to browse originally was its hostility towards anything that smacked of the lame, mainstream, superficial, market-tested & corporate approved mediocrity that made up most of the internet. It wasn't a welcoming place for newcomers, and it was better because of that.
Now 4chan is practically just as dull as reddit. Ledditors claim that everybody browses BOTH reddit & 4chan. Sadly enough, they might actually be right.

The moderation here is completely arbitrary. Threads that don't break any rules sometimes get deleted while shit threads regularly stay up for a day.
