This works out because if you are working minimum wage or close to it, you automatically qualify for a bunch of social programs which raises your effective wage to something like $12/hr.

Well that's not how it works. You can't just add up all your components and think that is the minimum for your psu. You need a lot of headroom for stuff like reliability, deterioration and of course, future proofing.
PSU issues are literally the most common ways pc's die. A shitty psu can theoretically break all major components in time. Im not blaming the brand, EVGA is fine, but 750w is just poverty tier. Americlaps can get 850w for like 20$ more.
