Stop associating with people who negatively effect you. If you have friends who put you down for stuff like that, they're honestly not worth having as friends. People fall into bad relationships over time, and it's oftentimes hard to cut out a negative influence on your life-- but it's very possible.

By improving those parts of your life, you may end up resolving the issues that are negatively effecting you. For example, I used to be unhappy because I was 260 pounds, so when I turned 17 I decided to get /fit/ and lost 80 pounds over a year. After that I still had a lot of personal issues to deal with, but I was no longer unhappy with myself over my weight.
