do you live in a city? depending on where you are there are still some goth clubs around. i used to go to milk bar in denver for their goth night, they're out in full force there.
now i'm in sf and sometimes go to a place called cat club. everyone is at LEAST 20 years older than me and it's incredibly depressing. haven't been in a while.

To be fair I just wore the Slipknot to show off how hardcore and totally not a pussy I was. I was more into anarchopunk rock than numetal or industrial, but still enjoyed those.
as far as numetal goes I was more Mushroomhead than Slipknot since people were picking a side between the two, and Mudvayne as well.

also NIN/Trent Reznor is the only act from that era and genre to have aged gracefully. Slipknot and Marilyn Manson and most others all turned into dad rock or disbanded.

he hobbled out on stage on these ridiculous stilt things and toppled over

It was all right, plenty of circus bullshit and confetti and him on stilts like you described, he at one point shoved the mic up a burlesque dancer girl's hole, not sure which one, and sang the rest of the song like that.
But then he just fucked off as soon as his set was over and didn't even bother with a "thank you goodnight" as we were left screaming for a an encore and got blue balls instead.
