This was essentially my first reference sketch, I plan to become an ecchi drawing master. Pretty bad, but I guess I've gotta start somewhere.

Anime is too stylized to be replicated.

Study the classis and your fundamentals first. Stylization becomes far easier when you can draw correctly.

>>
>>27384172

It's best to treat those 'learn to draw books' like a reference to your studies

The inserts can help you understand the theory behind form, but the only way to get good at drawing is to draw for an hour a day. And drawing things that actually challenge you.

The single most important fundamental is drawing what's really there. Look at something and draw what you see. Most people naturally look at something, imagine it, and then draw what they imagined. If you draw a hand like this is will definitely look fucked up (see >>27384371).

I had this discussion with somebody who drew cartoon style exclusively. I am not an artist, hadn't done any drawing since mandatory drawing at school many years ago, but simply by knowing the trick of negative space I could draw an acceptable hand within 15 minutes (pic related, and yes, my fingers really are that short). The person who could draw Disney style cartoon animals could not draw a human hand, they were even worse than >>27384371

>>
>>27385548
>for some reason I just can't draw well
You have to put the time in. You can just be an arrogant ass claiming your "high IQ" will make up for hard work.
>>
>>27385572

You say that, but my point is that my starting point is very below average. For example, I can't remember basic directions relating to places I've been many times without a GPS because my visual memory is zero.
>>
>>27385587
Don't overthink it. You may be starting behind even an "average" beginner or you just may be too hard on yourself. Either way forget that narrative you're telling yourself, pick up some pens, pencils, and paper and Loomis
>>
>>27385616

I just feel that a basic cost/benefit and risk assessment suggests to me that I couldn't really make it given my poor coordination (handwriting always worst in class, terrible at sports), and bad visual memory.

As someone who has always excelled, I don't like doing things in which I can't be at least better than 98% of active participants in that hobby.

The only way I can draw a straight line is by identifying my muscular tendency at a certain angle and intentionally drawing against it, so that it equals out .

Why would you even bother drawing sketches with a pencil and paper? Did you not take 1 art class during school? There's no reason to not torrent Adobe and start learning unless you're poor and an alcoholic
>>
>>27385729
Then there's no competitive edge whatsoever. No actual risk of failure. And the only way you can "fail" at drawing (especially if you are doing it as a hobby and not a career) is to give up or bitch out before you even begin.
