Why do I always have to be the "that guy", wherever I go?

Why did I have to be made this way?

It's ok, being able to post successful threads on 4chan doesn't determine your worth.

this is true, especially on r9k

to get replies here, all you need is some hot bait and some funny greentexts, meme words like cuck, etc

memes go further than intelligent discourse here

I think /r9k/ has been shit for a while now, but then again most of 4chan is and Josh killed the refugee camp I had called home.

I think the issue is that we've become too selfish. What used to be a place to share experiences and genuinely receive input or even interest in those experiences has festered into a sort of self-pity box where we seek validation and empathy for others without sending any back in return.

It might just be the state of my own life but the internet has become less appealing and engrossing to me lately, and I think this phenomenon isn't an isolated thing.

Tree King was the first time I had fun following a thread in a while.

Keep at it, OP. Maybe things are bad but there's only worth in trying despite the circumstances.

It's ok OP. I've tried starting countless threads to reach the military fags that lurk this place. I've lost to trap threads every single time.
>try to self bump
>talk to myself in my own thread
>realize how fucking cringy I'm being
>feel relief once it 404s
>lurk on and keep on being an isolated, alcoholic veteran
Perhaps we should find a way to incorporate traps into our posts?

Tree King is hard to explain because he means something different to different people. For some he was just an angry homeless man who climbed up an 80-foot sequoia a day or two ago and didn't come down for 27 hours. For others he represents a symbolic rejection of urbanization and technology and is an expression of man's desire to return to nature. Some still have attested some divine, prophetic purpose to his actions, and view the climb as an act of sacrifice or intervention in some greater cosmic event.

Whatever he "was", he captivated America for a few short hours for reasons unclear. Perhaps it was just a spectacle, but even as a staunch Absurdist there was a little bit of me that wanted to draw purpose from the act.

You could promise to dump traps and post nothing but land mines and devious Vietcong devices.

You're overthinking it. Just post different threads over and over and you'll eventually start to get the hang of it.

You are a despicable human being and should leave this image board immediately.

Agreed.

Everyone should make an effort to reply to posts in threads rather than only add their own views and expect others to comment.

And we should overall think about our threads before posting them, asking "do I already know the answer to the question I'm asking?":

It's easier said than done I'll admit. Being deliberate on /r9k/ and teaching people to exercise restraint on a community they've been lead to believe is EXACTLY the place where they should abandon it is an uphill battle.

The apathy of the moderators and janitors are also a chronic source of this board's decline. There does need to be a point at which the mentality of "/b/ with no copypasta" needs to be attacked.

The coexistence of the type of shitposter fostered when the robot was pulled away and the greentextposters that came before them is unlikely.

If I were to push for anything it would be for a dedicated "life story/journal" board with a minimum level of post quality, and leave /r9k/ as is. The robot failed to make the shitposters go away, if anything it has emboldened them.

I feel ya OP

I'm stoked when I get over 10 postsm which is pretty rare. I'll feel proud as fuck about myself thinking I made a really unique thread and everyone will join in. Not so much. I get it tho. Sometimes if a topic is too invplving or controversial I'll just avoid it

Happens to me too though
