any of you fags use melatonin? does it work? how do you use it?

I'm about to leave my room for the first time in a week, to get a bottle at the local Shoppers Drug Mart
>>
If I take 10 of those will I die?
>>
works for normie problems, its the same with vitamin d.
>>
>>27381381
Whenever I take heavy doses, I tend to hallucinate and have very bizarre dreams.
>>
It works, you get fuckin crazy dreams tho I don't like it I prefer my personal cocktail of kava, bennadryl, Valerian root, chamomile, passion flower, and skullcap. That kinda does the trick
>>
>>27381381
Enjoy your sleep paralysis, fag.
>>
>>27381480

Any side effects from taking huge doses?
>>
Every other night.
>>
>>27381559
Well, my dick turned a weird shade of red after a week.
>>
This shit does not do anything for me. I tried using it to treat my Night Eating Syndrome (yes, it's a real thing, look it up. I promise, I'm not even fat) and I still kept getting up 2:00am sleep walking out of my room.

>>27381557
What's funny is I used to get sleep paralysis everyday until I started taking this, so maybe this is the cure to sleep paralysis. Unfortunately, that's not my biggest sleep problem atm.
>>
>>27381631
Let me just go ahead and be autistic by posting these links, because I KNOW I'm gonna get replies telling me that I have no self control and that I'm just a fatass.

I normally take 10 mg if I feel like I'll have trouble sleeping. Works like a dream.

I had a fucked up day so I took 20 mg, am I in for a fun time or some bad times?
>>
what about this st johns wart shit? does it work
>>
>>27381792
I've tried it before and it does work in a way. Don't take it at the same time as an SSRI though. You may get way too wired.
>>
>>27381381
It makes you somewhat tired. Pretty nice supplement if you enjoy sleeping.

>>27381792
Didn't help me any more than a placebo.
>>
Having trouble deciding if it works or not.

I frequently just don't feel like sleeping, just not tired at all, end up fucking up my sleep schedule because I finally end up being tired at like 7am.

Started taking melatonin to try and fix it. It help me get to sleep for sure. But I feel like my sleep is lighter on it. And I'm still a bit tired when I wake up.
>>
>>27381557
I don't take anything for sleep anymore and I had a bout of sleep paralysis a few days, ago.

It literally feels like I'm hanging on for my life, sometimes, I feel like I'm being dragged down.
>>
I take 5 mg every night, I honestly feel like I couldn't fall asleep without it.
>>
I love melatonin working on night shift.

I heard it was good for you in small doses but I can't find a 1mg tablet. Only 3mg. Anyway, I take one on the drive home at 6am and by 7:30 I'm out like a light. I have this sleep tracking app that shows my amount of REM sleep and it's way higher when I take melatonin.

But I don't take it on days off. I usually have a few drinks and that'll put me to bed just the same.

I feel great when I wake up with it. Restful sleep and I don't feel drowsy like all the cough medicines and sleep aids.

damn, this happens to me every night. wake up, eat a bowl of cereal or banana or chips or something... I wake up between 2 am and 5 am. weight is not one of my problems since I'm pretty skinny but the depression and anxiety is omnipresent.

I'm going in for a neuropsychological test for autism (my parents are insisting and they pay for it) it should cost around $3000. fucking A.

good luck anon. Maybe we need to change our protein intake. like eat protein before bed plus a glass of milk?

I take seroquel to help sleep. I used to take melatonin but it barely works, if it works at all sometimes. Apparently it has a low rate of bioabsorption. it's not even clear if the body uses the melatonin you ingest, it might just break it down only to build melatonin all over again... metabolism is not always a smart activity it can learn to do the wrong things sometimes.

Most people take way too much. You're only supposed to take tiny amounts, like < 1 gram. It's a neurotransmitter that signals your brain to get sleepy. Your body only makes small amounts of it. If you take more than a few grams, it will have the opposite effect.

hours before?
>>
>>27381381
Melatonin worsens my depression quite a lot. I looked it up at one point to see if the correlation had any weight to it and its actually a side effect.
>>
>>27383542
there should be instruction on the label. For me, 30 min before sleep. Melatonin is made naturally by your body so nothing can go wrong even if you take 10 tablets.
>>
>>27383542
You take it and then get really sleepy. That's when you go to bed.

For better or for worse though, it tends to make your dreams very vivid. You're stuck in them until you wake up in the morning.
>>
It's real good if you're like me and can't sleep. Mix some capsules with cranberry tea. Helps you sleep but you dreams are fucked from time to time.

I hate these doctors peddling out anti-psychotics to people who can't sleep well. My mom actually once gave me some "advice" to trick the doctors into giving me Seroquel, saying it helped knock her out. Like what the fuck, mom? First of all, I was already on a huge dose of Zyprexa because I've got schizophrenia. But back to the point, anti-psychotics are some pretty fucking hard shit. The side effects are way too awful to be taking them for something simple like insomnia. Yeah, they'll knock you right out, but you'll be out for like 18 hrs. Fucking shrinks give it out for anxiety too. Yeah, they kinda chill you out, but you get way too fucking chill. You become a fucking zombie and don't feel like doing anything.

When my doc raised my dose of crazy meds, I was fucking sleeping for entire days, 24-hrs non-stop. I could never leave my house because it felt like I weighed a trillion pounds. And look at the list of risks your pharmacy hands you. Like your face can get fucking stuck in some wacky expression and it's permanently like that, even if you kick your meds. I don't wanna go around looking like some horror monster. And, although it says only the elderly are at risk, I'm still pretty fucking worried about the part that says you can just drop dead for no reason. Like doesn't that raise an eyebrow for you?

It should only be used for treating psychosis, when you're having serious hallucinations or delusions. That's serious enough to outweigh the risks, imo, since it's so disabling and you can hurt yourself. But even then doctors shill it out too much. They try to keep every schizo on anti-psychs for their whole life, even when they're fine. I read this study that found they were much more effective when taken as-needed. If you take them forever, they'll just poop out and you'll get crazy again. Common sense will tell you that. But no, gotta keep pushing out those pills! Adderall for every third-grader! Benzos for all! What a wonderful country.
>>
>>27382121
they also have liquid form that has actually worked for me better than the pills. the dropper that comes with is about 1mL max so you can control dose better is you want a smaller one.
>>

The bottle is just for looks. If you read it, it should say there is like 80 tablets in there and I bet you went to shoppers drug Mart and paid like $10 or something close. I prefer the 10mg so I recommend at least 2 of those if you want a good 8+ hours of sleep

10mg master race here. I take one of these every night, sometimes two. There are nights where it barely does anything for me.

sleepcycle android/ios. you just plug in your phone and put it on the bed, it detects your movement with the gyroscope and it judges your sleep depth with that.
>>
For real? You guys need more than 1 of the smallest mg?

No bueno...
>>

Yes, and yes. I take 10mg at a time, but only on nights when I really need sleep to avoid building up much of a resistance. The rest of the time I just suffer.

It is illegal in my country and would love something to help me sleep for once. The only alternatives are either over the counter shit that doesn't do anything or extremely expensive compound prescriptions which are hard to get and are pretty bad for your health.

>>
>>27383958
My GP and psychologist gave me the choice of taking Seroquel but more or less laid out a massive reasons of why I should take X, Y or Z instead. Maybe it's because I'm in Australia and you maybe in America, but after reading so many of the horror stories of people within the American mental health system, sometimes I can't help but think it is less about patient care over there than it is a big dog and pony show for big pharma.

You can't even get huge doses of stuff other here basically unless you are in a psych ward, instiutionalised, or is the result of slowly ramping up dosages for years. I had to go to four different doctors just to get a referral to see a shrink and get on anti-depressants. Basically had to keep trying different places because the advice most of the time was "just exercise and you'll feel better". Even had that shit from two different shrinks before my current one. It's like Australia is almost anti-medication unless you are fucking dying.
>>
>>27384417

Look up Pyroluria dude. I was so pissed when i found out i hade like 95% of the symptoms and how its treatable with vitamins yet my doc never looked into it and had me on antipsychotics. I encourage everyone with mental disorders on antipsychotics to look up pyroluria and other related conditions to make sure your not taking antipsychotics for no reason. I started treating myself for pyroluria about 4 years ago and it works much better than antipsychotics ever did.

It usually takes me awhile to fall asleep when I'm in bed. Melatonin seems to shorten that time. I take 3mg daily, and it usually begins to set in 15-20 minutes after I take it.
>>
>>27388561
>You must think I'm stupid
Did you take the time to actually look up customer reviews? Or are you just assuming they don't work? Honestly I certainly can't guarantee they'll work for you, but magnesium lowers blood pressure quite a bit and magnolia extract has a fuckload of five-star reviews of people taking it for insomnia. Granted they're not as strong as melatonin but you said that was banned in your country (if I'm responding to the right person.)
