Well there are sometimes contact threads on other places than /soc/ like /b/, /lgbt/ and even here. But I don't think they're allowed on /lgbt/ and /r9k/ so they get taken down or shat all over, but you can still add some cool people from there.
Also /b/ and /v/ have steam add threads, threads like this pop up and people post their skype, someone has in this thread. /r9k/ also has a discord and /x/ has an IRC.
