the zaps really suck though OP, you should fill your script and just taper them off slowly
If you ran out of SSRIs and have been taking them daily for longer than six months, go to the nearest GNC/Vitamin Shoppe/etc and buy some St. John's Wort, which is basically an herbal SSRI which will prevent antidepressant withdrawal effects like nasty brain zaps and anxiety/depression.
Ideally though you'd want to go to the doc, get some more, and then taper off from there.

I quit citalopram cold turkey too. It wasn't so bad. Withdrawal only lasted a week or so.

the problem is you took them in the in the first place. most depression is environmentally rooted so you got to figure out why it's liek that and fix it. anti-depressants make you numb to it which i guess can be good because then you can be more mentally able to fix the problems.
